Sweet Baby Bunny

I just love Springtime with all the baby animals I see out in the desert! I used to have a pet bunny, a miniature Lion Head named Snowball. Yes, I know, not a very creative name, but it fit. Snowball loved to lay on his back on my lap. He would actually fall asleep that way! And as you can see I am also a fan of Thumper!

Today’s card showcases the cute bunny in Stampin’ Up!’s Fable Friends stamp set. It is very fitting for a baby card.

Measurements: Whisper White card base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches scored and folded at 4 1/4 inches, Balmy Blue 5 1/4 x 4 inches and 3 3/4 x 2 1/4 inches, Gingham Gala Designer Series paper 5 1/4 x 1 1/2 inches, Whisper White 3 1/2 x 2 inches and a strip that is 5/8 inches wide. You also need 1/2 of a Pearlized Doily.

You will need Stampin’ Up!’s Balmy Blue ink, Memento ink and Stampin’ blends in Light Crumb Cake, Dark Crumb Cake, Light Balmy Blue and Light Petal Pink. You will also need the Stampin’ Write Pineapple Punch marker (not shown),

Lastly, you will need a package of Stampin’ Up!’s Pearl Basic Jewels.

The first step is to stamp the “Sweet Baby” sentiment on the 5/8 inch strip of Whisper White using the Balmy Blue ink. Cut to about 2 1/4 inches long.

To cut the banner end, first make a cut in at the center. Next cut from either corner to the center. Viola! You have a nice, even banner edge! Set this aside.

Use the Memento ink to stamp the bunny image on the 3 1/2 x 2 inch piece of Whisper White.

Starting off with the Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend, color the face, paws and body with one layer of marker. On another bunny, I had gone over the marker a second time and it made the face too dark.

Use the Dark Crumb Cake to add a little shading.

Now use the Light Crumb Cake to blend the Dark Crumb Cake. The shadow on the side of the face and on the belly under the shirt is just a second layer of the Light Crumb Cake.

Color the little jacket with Light Balmy Blue.

Add a second layer of the Light Balmy Blue to create the shadows.

Color the inside of the ears with the Light Petal Pink.

I used the Stampin’ Write Marker in Pineapple Punch for the buttons. Isn’t this little bunny so adorable?

Adhere the bunny card piece to the 3 3/4 x 2 1/4 piece of Balmy Blue.

Now adhere the Gingham Gala Designer series paper to the 5 1/4 x 4 inch piece of Balmy Blue. Adhere this piece to the Whisper White card base.

Adhere one half of the Pearlized Doily to the back of the bunny card piece.

Use the Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of the bunny and doily card piece.

Adhere the bunny piece to the card front.

Add some Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the sentiment and adhere it to the card front as shown.

I wanted to make this card a little more special so I added a large pearl next to the sentiment and 2 little pearls on the doily. The easiest way to adhere the pearls is by using the Paper Piercing Tool to transfer them.

You can also use other colors to make baby cards in green, yellow or pink, depending on the situation. It is nice to have stash so you are ready when a baby card is needed!
