It seems we often get caught up in the flurry of activity associated with the Holidays and forget to take time to feel the “Light and Peace” of Christmas.
This card is very easy to make and reminds us to receive the “Light and Peace” Christmas can bring to us. Making Christmas cards for others really helps me feel peaceful and by sending the cards to my loved ones, I feel I am sharing a little Light.
For this card I used the Stampin’ Up! Light and Peace stamp set.
Measurements: Whisper White cardstock: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch card base with a scoreline at 4 1/4 inches, 3 3/4 x 2 3/4 inches, and 3 x 2 inches; Night of Navy cardstock: 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 inches and 3 3/4 x 2 3/4 inches; Copper Foil: 3 1/4 x 2 1/4 inches; and the Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP): 5 1/4 x 4 inches.
Additional supplies: Memento ink, Clear Blocks C and H, Every Day Label Punch, Paper Snips, Take Your Pick tool, Stampin’ Blends (Light Petal Pink, Light and Dark Balmy Blue and Dark Daffodil Delight), Bone Folder, Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin’ Dimensionals and Star Designer Elements.
Place the angel and the sentiment “May this Christmas bring you Light and Peace” on the clear blocks. The angel will be stamped onto the 3 x 2 inch piece of Whisper White, and the sentiment on the 3 3/4 x 2 3/4 inch piece of Whisper White.
Stamp the sentiment in Memento ink onto the bottom half of the 3 3/4 x 2 3/4 inch piece of Whisper White. Oops! I didn’t apply even pressure so the “C” did not stamp. Not to worry.
Just flip the paper and stamp on the other side. When you punch the sentiment out it will be fine.
Now stamp the angel in Memento ink onto the 3 x 2 inch piece of Whisper White. Boy! It isn’t my day. This extra mark from the edge of the stamp is called a Halo. This can happen if you rock the stamp instead of pushing straight down and up. Also, some stamps just make a halo even if your stamping technique is good.
When I get a halo, I usually will trim off the excess rubber to decrease the chance of it happening again. Just take your paper snips and trim a small amount away.
I will try it again now. Viola! No halo!
Use the Everyday Label Punch to punch out the sentiment.
Use the Everyday Label Punch to punch a label from the 3 3/4 x 2 3/4 inch piece of Night of Navy.
Here are the Stampin’ Blends you will need.
I choose Dark Daffodil Delight for the hair. If you prefer brown hair, use Crumb Cake, Soft Suede or Early Espresso.
I used the Dark Petal Pink for the skin color. An alternative could be Light Crumb Cake.
I used the Dark Balmy Blue to make the shadow first.
Using a circular motion, add the Light Balmy Blue and blend the Dark Balmy Blue.
You can emphasize the shadow by applying more of the Dark Balmy Blue.
Here is the completed Angel.
Adhere the Angel to the 3 1/4 x 2 1/4 inch piece of Copper Foil.
Adhere the 2 labels together with the Night of Navy label slightly to the lower right behind the sentiment.
Adhere the Brightly Gleaming DSP to the 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 inch piece Night of Navy cardstock.
Use the Bone Folder to fold the 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch Whisper White cardstock card base at the 4 1/4 inch scoreline.
Adhere the Brightly Gleaming DSP and Night of Navy card stock piece to the front of the card base. Add the Angel to the upper left-hand corner.
Apply Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the sentiment piece. I cut my Dimensionals in half but always use a full Dimensional in the center.
Add the sentiment to the lower right-hand corner of the card front.
And now for some bling! These are the Star Designer Elements found in the Brightly Gleaming Suite in the 2019 Holiday Catalog. Aren’t they wonderful?!
The easiest way to transfer the stars from the package sheet to the card is to use the Take Your Pick Tool. I am using a retired Piercing Tool because I don’t have the Take Your Pick tool yet. Slide the pick under the adhesive of the star and transfer to the proper place on the card. Use your finger to slide the star off and adhere it to the card.
Usually using an odd number of elements is more pleasing to the eye. I also tend to place the elements in a triangular orientation.
And viola! You have a beautiful card to help bring “Light and Peace” to someone you love!

Although Thanksgiving is still a week away, I know Christmas will be here in the blink of an eye. I thought I better get started on Christmas cards. I need about 40! I am also making some cards to sell at a local church Bazaar in a few weeks.
This adorable deer makes a really cute card to wish someone a Happy Christmas.
I used two Stampin’ Up! stamp sets for this card: Dashing Deer and Birch.
Measurements: Very Vanilla cardstock: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch card base scored at 4 1/4 inches and 3 3/4 x 2 1/4 inches; Crumb Cake cardstock: 5 1/4 x 4 inches; and Cherry Cobbler cardstock 4 x 2 1/2 inches.
You will also need Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler and Crumb Cake ink, the Cherry Cobbler 3/8 inch Diagonal Stripe Ribbon and the Gold Metallic Pearls. For an adhesive I use the Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
The Birch stamp is a large background stamp. It comes in a clear mount and a wood mount. Tip: I find that the wood mount for background stamps is easier to use because it seems more sturdy on the wood. You will need the Crumb Cake ink.
For a large background stamp, I flip it over and lay it on the craft table. Ink the stamp with the Crumb Cake ink.
Carefully lay the 5 1/4 x 4 inch piece of Crumb Cake cardstock on top of the Birch stamp. Place a large clear block over the top and press down evenly.
Carefully lift the cardstock off the Birch stamp. I love the birch image as a background!
I have an old version of the Dashing Deer stamp set. Tip: If you own an old set of the clear mount for the Dashing Deer, you will need something to help it adhere to the clear block. I use a very thin layer of the Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue. When the glue dries, it is sticky enough to hold the stamp on the clear block. The stamp can be taken off when you are finished and stored with the glue on it. The newer version which was available in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog is very sticky so you don’t need to do this step.
Let the glue dry completely before trying to place on a clear block.
Stamp the sentiment “Happiest Christmas Wishes” in Cherry Cobbler ink onto the Birch card piece in the lower right-hand corner.
Stamp the reindeer in Soft Suede ink onto the 3 3/4 x 2 1/4 inch piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. So adorable! I just love the pattern on the body of the reindeer.
Adhere the stamped reindeer card piece to the 4 x 2 1/2 inch piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock.
Fold the 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch card base at the 4 1/4 inch score mark. Use the bone folder to get a crisp fold. Adhere the Crumb Cake Birch piece to the card front.
Apply Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the piece with the stamped deer. I usually cut my Dimensionals in half so they will last longer. However, I use a full Dimensional in the center so that it won’t sink down.
Adhere the reindeer piece to the card front.
How to make a bow
Use a glue dot to adhere the bow to the card front.
Use the Take Your Pick tool to transfer several Gold Metallic Pearls to the antlers of the reindeer.
And Viola! that is all there is to making this wonderful Christmas card!

I know Halloween just barely passed, and Thanksgiving is on the way, but I am itching to start on my Christmas cards. I send out about 45 cards each year, and I make each one. I am also doing a church Bazaar on the first weekend in December and will need cards to sell there. So, let’s get started!
This is a Merry little card with a forest of Christmas trees made from the Wrapped in Plaid Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP).
I used two Stampin’ Up! punches, the Pine Tree Punch from Holiday Catalog and the Twinkle Builder from the Annual Catalog.
The sentiment “Christmas Wishes” is from the Toile Christmas stamp set. I plan on showing you a card with the cardinal in a later post.
Measurements: Whisper White: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch card base scored at 4 1/4 inches and a 3 1/2 x 1 1/2 inch strip for the sentiment; Shaded Spruce: 5 1/4 x 4 inches; Wrapped in Plaid DSP: 7 different patterns in strips 6 x 2 1/4 inches; and Gold Foil: 4 x 1 inches.
Side Note: My blog posts are geared toward the Beginner Stamper. My goal is to show the Beginner Stamper how you can make beautiful cards that are fairly straight forward to put together. I will use Stamps primarily. I will also use Punches, but I do not use the Big Shot or any framelits or dies. Any comments you can give me to help accomplish the goal of keeping this post for the Beginner Stamper would be appreciated. Please let me know if the instructions are not clear enough.
Use Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Up! ink to stamp the sentiment “Christmas Wishes” onto the 3 1/4 x 1 1/2 inch strip of Whisper White cardstock.
Use your Paper Snips to fussy cut the banner.
Now punch one tree from each of the 7 different designs of Wrapped in Plaid DSP.
Use the Gold Foil in the Twinkle Builder punch to make 7 stars.
Fold the 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch Whisper White card base at the 4 1/4 inch scoreline and use the Bone Folder to make a crisp fold.
Adhere the 5 1/4 x 4 inch Shaded Spruce to the front of the card base. Tip: I prefer the Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue because it allows you to straighten out the piece for a few seconds after you adhere it. If you use the Snail Adhesive Tape runner, once it is stuck, it is stuck!
Adhere 2 of the trees to the upper portion of the card front with the “center line” between them. Leave enough room on top for the star.
For the next 3 trees, apply a Stampin’ Dimensional to the upper portion to elevate the top of the tree slightly.
Adhere a tree in the center, then one tree to either side.
For the last 2 trees, apply 2 Stampin’ Dimensionals so that the entire tree will be slightly elevated.
Apply the last 2 trees so that they lie in between the trees in the row above them.
Adhere the Gold Foil stars flat to the card front above the top 2 trees.
Apply a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional to each of the remaining 5 Gold Foil stars and adhere above the rest of the trees.
Apply the Stampin’ Dimensionals to the sentiment “Christmas Wishes”.
Adhere the sentiment to the card front.
And Viola! You have your first Christmas card ready to go!!
