Easy Fun Fold Note Card with Butterfly Bouquet

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday! There is so much you can do with the Butterfly Bouquet! I apologize to those of you who are tiring of this set, however, I have a wonderful Fun Fold for you today!

This card features the Designer Series Paper (DSP) in the Butterfly Bouquet called Butterfly Bijou. What is a Bijou? I didn’t know so I looked it up. A Bijou is something that is delicate, elegant or highly prized (defined by Merriam-Webster). I think Bijou definitely describes this Suite. Well enough of that-let’s make the card!

Measurements

Measurements: Butterfly Bijou DSP: small butterfly/pink splatter design: 2 3/4 x 3 1/4 inches, 2 1/2 x 5 1/4 inches and 4 x 5 1/4 inches, and one 6 x 6 inch piece of the large butterfly design; Calypso Coral Card Stock (CS) card base: 5 1/2 x 7 inches scored at 2 3/4 inches; Calypso Coral CS: 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches scored at 1/2 inches; and Basic White CS: 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 inches.

Dies

The Brilliant Wings Dies have a die that fits around all of the butterflies on the large butterfly design of the Butterfly Bijou DSP. If you do not have a die cutting machine, the butterflies can be fussy cut.

I will be using the Magenta Madness and the Calypso Coral colored butterflies.

Putting the card together

The first step is to adhere the 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch Calypso Coral CS to the 7 x 5 1/2 inch Calypso Coral CS so that it will fold toward the inside of the card base.

Next adhere the 4 x 5 1/2 inch Butterfly Bijou DSP with the pink splatter design side up to the inside of the 5 1/2 x 7 inch CS card base.

Continue by adhering the 2 1/2 x 5 1/4 inch Butterfly Bijou DSP to the card front. Then adhere the 2 3/4 x 3 1/4 inch Butterfly Bijou DSP, with the pink splatter side up, onto the front of the flap.

The card should end up looking like this.

To complete the inside of the card adhere the 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 inch Basic White CS to the inside of the card, minding the positioning so that the Basic White CS is hidden when the card is closed.

Adding the Butterflies

To add some dimension to the butterflies, you can use your Bone Folder to gently curl the wings.

Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the butterflies to the flap on the card front. I also added some Bling! by placing a few of the Elegant Faceted Gems around wherever I wished.

Viola! You have made a wonderful Fun Fold note card!

Thanks so much for coming by today! I hope you enjoyed this easy Fun Fold and will give it a try.

Wacky Wednesday Technique- Use a Die-cut as a Stencil- Potted Succulents Dies by Stampin’ Up!®

Welcome to Wacky Wednesday! Today’s card is made using the Simply Succulents stamp set and Potted Succulents Dies by Stampin’ Up!. These products are found in the 2021 January-June Stampin’ Up!® Mini Catalog. I will be showing how to use one of the die-cuts as a stencil. We will be using the Sponging Technique also.

I just love how this lovely card turned out and it is fairly easy to do. The colors are some of the 2021-2023 In-Colors: Bumblebee, Magenta Madness and Just Jade.

Measurements

Measurements: Just Jade Card Stock (CS) card base: 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches with a score line at 4 1/4 inches; Basic White CS: two at 4 x 5 1/4 inches and 3 x 4 inches. You will need a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch piece of Thick Basic White CS to make the stencil with the die (not pictured).

Creating the Stencil

Here are all the lovely dies that come in the Potted Succulents Dies. The largest die is the one we will use to make our stencil.

First place the die on top of the 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch Thick Basic White CS and center it. Use your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine to cut out the stencil. Note: If you do not yet have an awesome Cut & Emboss Machine, there are 2 available. You will need the full-sized Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine to be able to use this die. You can buy one HERE.

Preparing the Sponges

The Stamping Sponges come in a large circle. Use a big pair of scissors to first cut the sponge in half. Then cut the half in half to make a quarter. Finally cut the quarter in half to make an eighth. The next step is to put a square of the color of cardstock that matches the ink you will use that sponge for. You will not need to rinse the sponge out if you are only using it for one color.

I store my sponges in a compartmentalized craft box.

Stamping

In order to make the sentiment label, you will first stamp the sentiment “you’ve been on my mind” in Smoky Slate ink onto the upper portion of the 3 x 4 inch Basic White CS. Next use the two different label dies in the Potted Succulents Dies set to cut out the labels as shown. I love the stitching around the edges of the labels. It adds a nice touch.

Sponging

The first step here is to secure the stencil to a scrap piece of paper with the 4 x 5 1/2 inch Basic White CS card piece also secured to the stencil. The stencil is a little bit longer than the 5 1/4 inch length of the stencil, so I used some sticky note tape to create the bottom border on the card piece.

Remember that the stencil is paper and will rip if rubbed too harshly. Sponging requires a gentle touch. First daub the sponge on the Bumblebee ink pad. Then use a gentle small circular motion to put ink on the card piece. You will have a very light layer of ink to start and will gradually add to that until you like the results.

To continue sponging the stencil, switch to the Magenta Madness ink and then the Just Jade ink. I wanted a border of the Just Jade so I went around the edges of the entire stencil.

Carefully remove the sticky note tape and Viola! You have a stunning and beautiful card front! Now we will use the die cut again as a stencil for the inside of the card.

To stencil the inside of the card, secure the stencil with the sticky tape so that you will sponge on the right-hand border. Again start with the lightest color-the Bumblebee ink. Then add the Magenta Madness ink and finally the Just Jade ink.

Viola! Another stunning and beautiful card piece!

Putting It All Together

Begin to put the card together by adhering the inside card piece to the inside of the Just Jade CS card base. Now adhere the front card piece to the front of the Just Jade CS card base.

To complete the card, adhere the larger label to the card front. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the stamped sentiment “you’ve been on my mind” over the first larger label.

Viola! You have completed an awesome card! I usually like to add some Bling! to my cards, but I felt this one was fine without the Bling!

Thank you for stopping by today to learn this fun technique. I hope you give it a try. Don’t worry if you need to do this a few times before you like the result. The experimentation is part of the fun!

Cardz4guyz Challenge # 262- Let It Snow

I really love the snow. Mostly because I live in Arizona and don’t have to deal with it unless I choose to go up to the mountain to go skiing. Most years our family will venture up into the White Mountains for a weekend of skiing. This year we will not be going due to the Pandemic and the fact that there is very little snow. Arizona is currently in a drought. However, I decided to create a nice snowy forest scene for the Let It Snow Challenge. For this card I used stamps from Stampin’ Up! Winter Woods, Very Versailles and Snowflake Wishes stamp sets.

The snowy scene I created uses 3 layers on a base of Shaded Spruce Card Stock (CS). The first layer is a Basic White CS stamped in Shaded Spruce ink with the large tree in the Winter Woods stamp set. The center tree is stamped at full strength and the two trees in the back are Stamped Off. The little snowflakes on this first layer are from Snowflake Wishes and are stamped in Balmy Blue ink. The inside of the card is also stamped in the large tree and small snowflakes along the right-hand edge.

The second layer is the retired Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper cut out with one of the Stitched Nested Labels Dies. This is adhered to the back of a Basic White CS cut with a larger Stitched Nested Labels Die.

The top layer is also Basic White CS, cut from the Stitched Nested Labels Dies and is stamped with several different stamps from the Snowflake Wishes stamp set. The Stampin’ Up! ink colors are: Balmy Blue, Misty Moonlight and Highland Heather. The sentiment is from the Very Versailles stamp set and is stamped in Shaded Spruce ink. The final touch is the 3 die-cut snowflakes in the Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper.

Thank you for visiting my Cardz4Guyz Challenge # 262- Let It Snow. Check out other snow-themed projects HERE.

Dove of Hope- Happy New Year

Hello and Happy New Year! I do not think I am alone in being extremely excited to leave 2020 behind! I truly hope for a much better 2021! On that note I decided to create a New Year’s card with the Dove of Hope stamp set by Stampin’ Up!® and it is a Fun Fold!

The Dove of Hope stamp set by Stampin’ Up!® is another one of my favorite stamps from the 2020 Stampin’ Up! Mini Catalog. I love the versatility of the dove which could be used all year long for wishing a Happy New Year, religious celebrations (baptism, communion, confirmation), weddings and to just share some peace, joy and love.

The Dove of Hope stamp set is retiring but is still available until January 4, 2021. You may click HERE to purchase it. I also used the “Happy New Year” sentiment from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set which is in the 2020-2021 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog HERE

Measurements

Measurements: Whisper White Card Stock (CS) card base: 5 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches with a score line at 3 1/4 inches; Pacific Point CS: 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches, 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 inches and 7/8 x 2 7/8 inches; Coastal Cabana CS: 3 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches; the Brights Designer Series Paper* (DSP): 1) Coastal Cabana DSP: 3 x 5 1/4 inches and 2) Pacific Point DSP: 1 1/2 x 5 1/4 inches; and Whisper White CS: two at 3 x 3 inches and 3/4 x 2 1/4 inches. (*find out how you can get this paper at the end of the blog)

Stamping

Start off by stamping the dove in Pacific Point ink onto one of the 3 x 3 inch Whisper White CS. Add some snowflakes in Coastal Cabana ink. Some of the snowflakes are full strength and others are Stamped Off. This helps to add dimension to your card.

Switching back to the Pacific Point ink, stamp the “Peace Joy Love” sentiment onto the 3/4 x 2 3/4 inch Whisper White CS.

In order to use just the part of the sentiment that says “And A Happy New Year” you will need a Pacific Point Stampin’ Write Marker. Color the bottom part of the sentiment, huff on it to moisten it a little, and stamp onto the other 3 x 3 inch Whisper White CS.

Putting it all together

Starting with the inside of the card, adhere the 4 x 5 1/4 inch Pacific Point CS to the inside panel of the Whisper White CS card base. Now adhere the 1 1/2 x 5 1/4 inch Pacific Point DSP to the right hand side.

To finish the inside, adhere the 3 x 3 inch Whisper White CS with the “Happy New Year” sentiment as shown.

Moving on to the card front, adhere the Coastal Cabana DSP to the Coastal Cabana CS. Then adhere the Coastal Cabana card piece to the front of the Whisper White CS card base.

To complete the card front, adhere the dove card piece to the 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 inch Pacific Point CS and the “Peace Joy Love” sentiment to the 7/8 x 2 7/8 inch Pacific Point CS.

Taking card to place the adhesive only on the left hand side, adhere the dove card piece to the card front. Be mindful of the placement so that the white panel underneath does not show around the dove card piece.

Lastly, apply adhesive to the left hand side of the sentiment and adhere it to the card front.

And Viola! Here’s hoping for more Peace, Joy and Love in 2021!

Freezin’ Fun One of my Stampin’ Up!® Favorites

Hello fellow crafters! The Freezin’ Fun stamp set is one of my personal favorites from the 2020 August-December Stampin’ Up! Mini Catalog. It is still available! But not for long. It will be one of the stamp sets retiring on January 4, 2021.

Late December and January is definitely Freezin’! We usually go up to the mountains and spend a couple of days skiing. Probably won’t go this year. It is a lot of fun though!

Supplies

Measurements: Whisper White Card Stock (CS) card base: 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches with a score line at 4 1/4 inches; Misty Moonlight CS: 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches; Magenta Madness CS: 4 x 5 1/4 inches; Whisper White CS: 3 3/4 x 5 inches, 2 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches and 2 1/2 x 6 inches.

Stamping

Use the Memento Black ink to stamp one each of the Freezin’ Fun characters and several trees.

Sponging the Snowdrifts

First cut a wavy line through the 2 1/2 x 6 inch Whisper White CS. This will be the mask for the snowdrifts.

Secure the mask with Sticky Note tape or Painters Tape. Dab the Sponge Dauber onto the Misty Moonlight ink pad. Using a circular motion, try the sponging out on the scrap paper, then continuing to use a small circular motion apply the ink along the edge of the mask. Apply more ink to the Sponge Dauber as needed.

Move the mask to the lower left hand quadrant and Sponge Daub another snowdrift, then move it to the right for one last snowdrift.

Subsequently apply the other side of the snowdrift mask to the bottom of the inside of the Whisper White CS card base. Resume the Sponge Daubing as before.

I felt that the background was too white and uninteresting so I used the Sponge Dauber to color the sky so it would look like a cloudy winter sky.

Coloring the Images

Now for the fun! I love using these Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Markers because they allow you to color with shadows so easily. The colors used today are: the Light and Dark of Magenta Madness, Misty Moonlight, Just Jade and Cinnamon Cider which are the In Colors for 2020-2022. Also used are the Light and Dark Smoky Slate, Light Basic Black and Dark Pumpkin Pie.

Color the images as desired. Some tips: For the smaller spaces I use the Dark color first where I want the shadow, then blend in the Light color. Try to color lightly so that the ink doesn’t bleed over the lines. If this happens, there is a Color Lifter that can be used to correct it.

Now to fussy cut everything. If you have a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine there are Freezin’ Friends dies you can use. If not, sit down to a little tv and fussy cut. I find it to be very meditative.

Creating the Scene

Initially, place the two little trees on the top of the snowdrifts and adhere them to the card front. Secondly, put in place the images you would like to use and adhere them with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Next put in place the images you want to use on the inside of the card and adhere them. Lastly, add the happy penguin with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Adding the Sentiment

Stamp the sentiments “‘Tis the season for freezin'” and “Wheeeee!!” in the Misty Moonlight ink onto the card front. Then stamp the sentiment “Sending warmth your way” on the inside of the card.

Putting it Together

First adhere the stamped card front to the Magenta Madness CS, then to the Misty Moonlight CS. Next adhere the two to the front of the Whisper White CS card base.

Viola! You have the cutest card for the cold winter weather!

Thanks for coming by today! I hope you can stay warm and spend some quality time crafting!

Stampin’ Up!® Merry Moose Christmas Cards

Wow! Christmas is almost here! It seems I have been making Christmas cards forever! Today’s Stampin’ Up!® Merry Moose Christmas Cards are very special because they are for my customers. I love my customers! They are the life of my business. With this in mind, the Stampin’ Up!® Statement of the Heart is really true for me “To love what we do and share what we love as we help others enjoy creativity and worthwhile accomplishments, in this we make a difference.”

The Merry Moose stamp set and Moose Punch are just so fun! And the “Merry Christmoose” sentiment adds a little humor. The background for the card is from the Feels Like Frost Designer Series Paper (DSP). So, let’s get started!

Supplies

Measurements: Whisper White Card Stock (CS) card base: 5 1/2 x 8 /12 inches with a score line at 4 1/4 inches; Pretty Peacock CS: 5 1/8 x 3 7/8 inches and 7/8 x 3 7/8 inches; Feels Like Frost DSP: 3 3/4 x 5 inches; Whisper White CS: 3/4 x 3 7/8 inches; Soft Suede CS: 3 x 4 inches and Cherry Cobbler CS: 1 1/2 x 2 inches. Alternatively, on some cards I used Balmy Blue, Night of Navy, Highland Heather and Shaded Spruce in place of the Pretty Peacock.

Stamping

Starting with the Soft Suede ink, stamp the inside of the Whisper White CS card base with the little racoon and then with the sentiment “enjoy the stillness of the season”. Similarly, stamp the moose onto the Soft Suede CS on one side. Note: Remember to use a catalog, magazine, or the Stampin’ Pierce Mat to get a great image with the Photopolymer Stamps.

Switching to the Cherry Cobbler ink, stamp the sentiment “Merry Chrismoose” onto the right hand side of the 3/4 x 3 7/8 inch Whisper White CS. Continuing with the Cherry Cobbler ink stamp the scarf onto the Cherry Cobbler CS.

Putting it all Together

Fussy cut the scarf and then use the Moose Punch to punch out the moose. Next use adhesive to adhere the scarf to the moose, and the sentiment strip to the 7/8 x 3 7/8 inch Pretty Peacock CS.

Apply adhesive to the Feels Like Frost DSP and then adhere it to the Pretty Peacock CS. Next adhere the card piece to the front of the Whisper White CS card base. To top it off add the sentiment strip.

Complete the card by using Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the moose to the card front on the sentiment strip.

Viola! You have made a fun Christmas card! I am trying to send one to every customer. If I perchance miss you, please leave me a comment or PM me on my Facebook page HERE.
