Stampin’ Up!® Angels of Peace Christmas Card

Today’s card is the Stampin’ Up!® Angels of Peace Christmas Card for Day 3 of the “12 Days of Christmas Card Making Challenge”!

Peace on Earth! I would really like to see more of that. As I said above, I am on Day 3 of the “12 Days of Christmas Card Making Challenge” with my stamping buddy Christy. I will be blogging a new holiday card each day until December 10, 2021. I plan to showcase a different stamp set with each card. This will allow you plenty of time to see the great products that are available in the 2021 Stampin’ Up! July to December Catalog and order it in time to make your own Christmas cards! You can order HERE when you have your list ready!

Disclaimer: This is a somewhat advanced card as there are several steps before you can put the card together. I used the Silver Emboss Powder, the Blending Brushes, Watercolor Pencils, the Wink of Stella, and the Metallic Mesh Ribbon in creating this fabulous card! I went through many different versions of this card before deciding on the final one.

This card will be submitted to The Paper Players PP569 Sketch Challenge.

Here is what you need to emboss: Silver Emboss Powder-Metallics, Versamark and the Heat Tool.

Measurements

  • Basic White Card Stock (CS) card base: 4 1/4 x 11 inches with a score line at 5 1/2 inches.
  • Basic White CS: 3 x 5 inches and a 3/8 x 3 7/8 inch strip.
  • Peaceful Place Designer Series Paper (DSP): one 1 7/8 x 12 inch piece of the trees and night sky design. First cut a 5 1/8 inch piece with the tree on it. Then cut the remaining DSP into a 5 inch piece. Cut that piece at 2 1/2 inches to make two small rectangles. Trim 1/8 inch off the length on each piece. You will also need a 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch piece of the night sky.
  • Disregard the white and silver design as I ended up not using it in the final version.
  • Silver Foil: 4 x 5 1/4 inches.

Stamping

Start out by making the sentiment. Use the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to ink up the “Peace on Earth” only. Stamp onto the 3/8 x 3 7/8 inch Basic White CS. Set aside.

Blending with the Blending Brushes

Use medium pressure as you put the Blending Brush to the Pacific Point Ink Pad. Move in small circles until you have some ink on the Blending Brush. Practice on a scrap piece of paper, moving the Blending Brush in circles. Try different amounts of pressure. Learn which pressure is needed to lightly apply the color to the paper. Blend the Pacific Point Ink onto the top and right side of one of the night sky pieces. Next, blend the ink onto the bottom and right side of the other night sky piece.

Apply the Pacific Point Ink to the top and left side of the tree piece. Blend ink onto the ends of the 1/2 x 3 7/8 inch night sky piece.

Here is how the Peaceful Place DSP pieces will fit together when they are adhered to the Silver Foil. The strip will be used on the inside of the card.

More Stamping

Create the inside of the card by stamping in Memento ink the sentiment “Blessings to you and yours this season and in the coming year” onto the inside of the 4 1/4 x 11 inch Basic White CS card base. Stamp the snowflakes in Pacific Point ink. Adhere the 3/8 x 3 7/8 inch night sky piece to the bottom of the inside panel.

Heat Embossing the Angel

Steps for Heat Embossing:

  1. Apply an Anti-Static powder to the 3 x 5 inch Basic White CS.
  2. Use Versamark to stamp the angel onto the CS.
  3. Sprinkle the Silver Emboss Powder over the Versamark until it sticks to it evenly.
  4. Tap the paper to remove the Emboss Powder that is not stuck to the Versamark TIP: If you see some Silver Emboss Powder stuck in a place where it should not be, you can use the tip of a fine tip paint brush to remove the powder before heating.
  5. Heat the Heat Tool for about 10 seconds, then wave the heat over the Silver Emboss Powder until it is all melted. Let it cool.

Coloring the Angel

To create the angel the same way I did, you will need the Pacific Point Watercolor Pencil. First apply an even but light layer on the dress. Then darken certain areas to make shadows. I am not great at the shadows. Just do what seems right for you. The hair is a light layer of the Daffodil Delight Watercolor Pencil. The face and hand are done in a very light layer of Calypso Coral. I did color the wings and the dove, but later wished I had left it alone. To finish the angel, use the Wink of Stella on the dress and wings.

Assembling the Card

Begin by adhering the Peaceful Place DSP pieces to the 4 x 5 1/4 inch Silver Foil as shown. Next tie a bow with the 1 1/2 inch metallic Mesh Ribbon leaving long tails. Use glue dots to adhere to the card front. Then use Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the angel. Wrap the tails of the bow around her. Finish by adhering the sentiment.

Complete the card by adhering the Silver Foil panel to the front of the Basic White CS card base. Take care to know which panel has the inside sentiment on it so you adhere the Silver Foil to the correct side.

Add some Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the sky. Voila! You have made a beautiful, shining angel Christmas card.

Thanks for joining me for Day 3 of the “12 Days of Christmas Card Making Challenge”. I have a great 3D card for tomorrow!

Happy crafting!

Dove of Hope- Happy New Year

Hello and Happy New Year! I do not think I am alone in being extremely excited to leave 2020 behind! I truly hope for a much better 2021! On that note I decided to create a New Year’s card with the Dove of Hope stamp set by Stampin’ Up!® and it is a Fun Fold!

The Dove of Hope stamp set by Stampin’ Up!® is another one of my favorite stamps from the 2020 Stampin’ Up! Mini Catalog. I love the versatility of the dove which could be used all year long for wishing a Happy New Year, religious celebrations (baptism, communion, confirmation), weddings and to just share some peace, joy and love.

The Dove of Hope stamp set is retiring but is still available until January 4, 2021. You may click HERE to purchase it. I also used the “Happy New Year” sentiment from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set which is in the 2020-2021 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog HERE

Measurements

Measurements: Whisper White Card Stock (CS) card base: 5 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches with a score line at 3 1/4 inches; Pacific Point CS: 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches, 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 inches and 7/8 x 2 7/8 inches; Coastal Cabana CS: 3 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches; the Brights Designer Series Paper* (DSP): 1) Coastal Cabana DSP: 3 x 5 1/4 inches and 2) Pacific Point DSP: 1 1/2 x 5 1/4 inches; and Whisper White CS: two at 3 x 3 inches and 3/4 x 2 1/4 inches. (*find out how you can get this paper at the end of the blog)

Stamping

Start off by stamping the dove in Pacific Point ink onto one of the 3 x 3 inch Whisper White CS. Add some snowflakes in Coastal Cabana ink. Some of the snowflakes are full strength and others are Stamped Off. This helps to add dimension to your card.

Switching back to the Pacific Point ink, stamp the “Peace Joy Love” sentiment onto the 3/4 x 2 3/4 inch Whisper White CS.

In order to use just the part of the sentiment that says “And A Happy New Year” you will need a Pacific Point Stampin’ Write Marker. Color the bottom part of the sentiment, huff on it to moisten it a little, and stamp onto the other 3 x 3 inch Whisper White CS.

Putting it all together

Starting with the inside of the card, adhere the 4 x 5 1/4 inch Pacific Point CS to the inside panel of the Whisper White CS card base. Now adhere the 1 1/2 x 5 1/4 inch Pacific Point DSP to the right hand side.

To finish the inside, adhere the 3 x 3 inch Whisper White CS with the “Happy New Year” sentiment as shown.

Moving on to the card front, adhere the Coastal Cabana DSP to the Coastal Cabana CS. Then adhere the Coastal Cabana card piece to the front of the Whisper White CS card base.

To complete the card front, adhere the dove card piece to the 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 inch Pacific Point CS and the “Peace Joy Love” sentiment to the 7/8 x 2 7/8 inch Pacific Point CS.

Taking card to place the adhesive only on the left hand side, adhere the dove card piece to the card front. Be mindful of the placement so that the white panel underneath does not show around the dove card piece.

Lastly, apply adhesive to the left hand side of the sentiment and adhere it to the card front.

And Viola! Here’s hoping for more Peace, Joy and Love in 2021!

Dove of Hope and Itty Bitty Christmas Stampin’ Up!®

Welcome to day 13 of my 15-Day Christmas Card Challenge! Today’s card is made mostly with dies and the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. The sentiments are from the Dove of Hope and the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp sets. The Dove of Hope is in the 2020 Stampin Up! Mini Catalog and the Itty Bitty Christmas is in the 2020-21 Annual Catalog

The dove from the Detailed Dove Dies is definitely the star of the show for this card. The equally elegant layers for the background are from the Ornate Layers Dies.

These Ornate Layers Dies are simply amazing and allow so many possibilities for fancy detailed cards. They are available from the 2020-21 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog HERE.

Measurements: Whisper White Card Stock card base: 4 1/4 x 11 inches with a score line at 5 1/2 inches; Whisper White CS: 3 3/4 x 5 1/4 inch Ornate Layer, the Detailed Dove body and 2 wings, and 1/2 x 3 inch strip; Feels Like Frost Designer Series Paper (DSP): 3 1/8 x 4 5/8 inch Ornate Layer; and a double strand bow with the 1/4 inch Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon.

Using the Seaside Spray ink, stamp the sentiment “May your season be filled with all the wonder and blessings of Christmas” from the Dove of Hope stamp set onto the inside panel of the Whisper White CS card base. Stamp the sentiment “Peace & Happiness” from Itty Bitty Christmas on the 1/2 x 3 inch strip of Whisper White CS.

Trim the sentiment “Peace & Happiness” as shown.

Adhere the back wing onto the body of the dove. Now adhere the front wing. When gluing smaller parts, I use the Silicon Craft Sheet to keep the glue from getting on my table.

I have found that cutting the Foam Adhesive Sheets into 1/4 inch strips is a great way to add dimension on a large card piece.

Adhere the Whisper White CS Ornate Layer frame to the front panel of the Whisper White CS card base. Be sure the inside sentiment is in the right place. Adhere the Feels Like Frost DSP Ornate Layer to the card front. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the dove and the sentiment.

Adhere the Seaside Spray bow and Viola! you have an elegant Christmas card to wish some Peace & Happiness to someone special.

Thanks for visiting today. I hope you have mailed off your cards! I am still finishing up the letter I put inside the cards before I can mail them off. I intend to be finished by Monday. Wish me luck!

Dove of Hope to wish Peace, Joy, and Love

Recent events can sometimes make it hard to have hope for a good future. Nonetheless I am hopeful that Peace, Joy, and Love as stated on today’s card will prevail. This is a wonderful message to send out for the holidays. This card could also be sent for a Confirmation or First Communion, or just encouragement during these hard times.

Stampin’ Up!’s Dove of Hope stamp set also comes with Detailed Dove Dies in a Bundle saving you 10%. I made this card with the Beginner Stamper in mind, so I did not use the dies.

Measurements: Whisper White Card Stock (CS): 4 1/4 x 1 inches with a score line at 5 1/2 inches (this is the card base), 4 x 5 1/4 inches, 2 3/4 x 3 1/2 inches and a 1/2 x 4 1/8 inch strip; Night of Navy CS: 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches; Artistry Blooms Designer Series Paper (DSP).

Use Memento ink to stamp the dove in the upper left hand corner of the 2 3/4 x 3 1/2 inch Whisper White CS.

Stamp the berry branch under the dove with the Memento ink.

Use the Night of Navy ink to stamp the sentiment “Peace Joy Love” onto the 1/2 x 4 1/8 inch Whisper White CS strip. Tip: When stamping the sentiment, line up the capital letters to get the sentiment on straight.

Use Balmy Blue and Highland Heather ink to stamp a flurry of snowflakes on the 4 x 5 1/4 inch Whisper White CS. This will be the inside of the card.

Adhere the Whisper White CS with the flurry of snowflakes to the inside of the 4 1/4 x 11 inch Whisper White CS card base.

Adhere the 4 x 5 1/4 inch Artistry Blooms DSP to the 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inch Night of Navy CS, then adhere the piece to the front of the Whisper White CS card Base.

To color the berry branch and dove I used the Stampin’ Write Markers in Real Red, Shaded Spruce and Smoky Slate.

Adhere the colored dove card piece and the sentiment strip to the card front.

And now for the Bling! I just love adding sparkle to a card! The Artistry Blooms Sequins have many different colors to add a little sparkle to just about any card!

I added a little bit of the sequins here and there until I felt satisfied with the overall look. Tip: Transferring the sequins is a breeze with the Take Your Pick tool.

Viola! You now have another fabulous Christmas or Holiday card ready to send out!

Thanks so much for visiting today. I really appreciate you! Please let me hear your thoughts by commenting. Thanks again!

Have a relaxing and creative day!

Prayers with His Love

One of the special ways I share my cards is by making religious cards and donating them to my church to sell in their gift shop.

The new stamp set called His Love by Stampin’ Up!® lends itself to several great card ideas.

This is a general note card which is very versatile. You could send someone encouragement to help them through a hard time, or send the card to celebrate a baptism, first communion or confirmation.

I created this card from one of my sketches. When I receive a card from someone, or see something on Pinterest or the Web, I copy down a sketch of the basic elements of the card onto a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inch white card stock. I keep these for times when I need a starting point to create a card.

Measurements: Whisper White Card Stock (CS) card base: 4 1/4 x 11 inches with a score line at 5 1/2 inches, 3 x 4 inches and 4 x 5 1/4 inches; Night of Navy CS: 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches and a 3/4 x 4 1/8 inch strip; Artistry Blooms Designer Series Paper (DSP): 4 x 5 1/4 inches. 1/4 inch Metallic ribbon in Seaside Spray: 5 1/2 inches.

Additional supplies: Memento ink; Stampin Blends Alcohol Markers in Ivory and Light and Dark Balmy Blue; super sticky note paper for a mask; Basic Pearl Jewels; Foam Adhesive Sheet; Glue Dots and Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Stamp the inside of the card first. Stamp the sentiment “His Love Never Fails” and the image of the Bible in Memento ink on to the 4 x 5 1/4 inch Whisper White CS. Set aside.

Stamp the praying hands in Memento ink onto the lower left corner of the 3 x 4 inch Whisper White CS and onto the super sticky note paper.

Trim the super sticky note paper praying hands close to the outline with Paper Snips. This is your Mask. Place the mask over the stamped praying hands. Stamp the sentiment “Faith” in Memento ink on to the bottom right corner. Now using Night Of Navy ink, stamp the cross over the mask.

Let the ink dry for a minute or two, then remove the mask. Such a fun technique!

Color the cross as desired with the light and dark Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Markers. I colored the hands with the Ivory Stampin’ Blend. You could also use Crumb Cake, Soft Suede or Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends for the skin color.

Add a little of the light and dark Balmy Blue to the ribbon in the Bible.

Adhere the 4 x 5 1/4 inch Artistry Blooms DSP to the 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inch Night of Navy CS.

Use Glue Dots on the ends of the 1/4 inch Metallic ribbon to adhere it to the 3/4 x 4 1/8 inch strip of Night Of Navy CS. Adhere the ribbon and Night of Navy CS piece to the Artistry Blooms DSP on the Night Of Navy CS.

To give the card a little dimension, I used the new Foam Adhesive Sheet. First I cut the sheet into four 3 3/4 x 1/4 inch strips.

I adhered the four strips to the back of the praying hands piece, then adhered it to the card front. This is a lot easier than using 15+ of the Stampin’ Dimensionals!

Use the Bone Folder to fold the 4 1/4 x 11 inch Whisper White CS at the 5 1/2 inch score line. This is your card base. Adhere the praying hands and cross piece to the front of the card base. Adhere the inside piece to the inside of the card base.

Now for some Bling!

First I placed the large pearl in the center of the cross. I then placed the smallest pearls on each arm of the cross.

Next I placed 3 medium sized pearls on the background in a triangular orientation. Finally, I added some of the smaller pearls next to the medium sized pearls to make three clusters of pearls.

Now for the final touch, a bit of Wink of Stella on the arms of the cross.

And Viola! You now have a very versatile religious card! I just love how this turned out.

Here are two other versions using the same sketch as the starting point.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you give this a try. Anytime you receive a card and you like the layout, try jotting it down as a sketch to use to start another card. It is a lot of fun to come up with designs using a sketch to start.
