Simple Stamping with Blossoms in Bloom Birthday Card

Believe it or not, this card is made only with stamping! The Blossoms in Bloom stamp set by Stampin’ Up! lends itself to some beautiful bouquets. And the sentiments make this set so versatile! The colors were inspired by Lorraine’s Color Challenge. The colors are so bright and cheerful!

Measurements: Calypso Coral Card Stock (CS): 8 1/2 x 11 inches with a score line at 4 1/4 inches; Whisper White CS: two 5 1/4 x 4 inches and a 1/2 x 8 1/2 inch strip. The ink colors I used are: Mango Melody, Calypso Coral, Granny Apple Green, Bumble Bee and Magenta Madness.

For the large blooms stamp, I apply the ink with the stamp upside down on the table. I find it to be easier to see that the ink is evenly applied.

Stamp onto the 5 1/4 x 4 inch Whisper White CS using Mango Melody ink. Use the heel of your hand to apply even pressure to the center of the blooms to help the ink go onto the paper more evenly.

I added the center of the Mango Melody flowers in Calypso Coral ink. The center is Stamped Off. Next, the leaves are stamped in Granny Apple Green ink.

The five-petaled flowers are stamped in Magenta Madness ink. There are two different designs for the five-petaled flowers. I did the three in the middle with one design, and the two on the outer edges with the other design. Stamp the center of the five-petaled flowers in Bumble Bee ink. I did not Stamp Off but later thought that may look better.

I stamped the tiny five-petaled flowers in Calypso Coral ink. There are also two designs for the tiny five-petaled flowers. I just mixed them as I stamped. I tried to stick with an odd number of each of the colors of flowers. Generally, the odd number is more pleasing to the eye than an even number.

The “Happy Birthday” sentiment is stamped in Calypso Coral ink. I trimmed the strip of Whisper White CS, then cut a banner end as shown.

Adhere the stamped card piece to the front of the 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch Calypso Coral CS. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment.

I used the 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots to add a little embellishment next to the sentiment. I find it easy to transfer the small dots with the Take Your Pick tool.

For this card I decided to stamp the inside panel as well. Start with the Mango Melody ink and the large blooms stamp. I stamped a little to the side so there would be space for writing.

I added the center for the Mango Melody flowers in Calypso Coral after Stamping Off. The leaves are in Granny Apple Green ink. The center of the Magenta Madness five-petaled flowers is stamped in Bumble Bee ink after Stamping Off.

Add the tiny five-petaled flowers in Calypso Coral ink.

Adhere the inside card piece to the inside of the Calypso Coral CS card base.

And Viola! you have a brightly colored Happy Birthday card to send to someone special! This card is sure to send some cheer!

Fancy Fold Bird Birthday Card

Hello everyone! Today I have a fun fancy fold card. You will be surprised to see how easy this awesome card is to make! It folds flat to fit in a standard A2 envelope. Currently I am visiting family for a wedding in Raleigh, North Carolina. I think this card could easily be changed to a wedding card if needed.

Measurements: 8 x 4 1 /4 inch Petal Pink card stock scored at 1 1/4, 2 1/2, 5 1/2 and 6 3/4 inches.

Additional paper needed: 4 x 2 3/4 inch of Basic Black; 3 3/4 x 2 1/2 inch and 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch of Very Vanilla; two 4 x 1 inch pieces of the Bird Ballad Designer Series paper in the floral print and 5 1/2 x 1 1/4 inch piece in the polka dot print; 5 1/2 x 1 1/4 inch of Petal Pink.

You will also need Memento ink, Stampin’ Up! Petal Pink ink and Stampin’ Up! Soft Sea Foam.

I used the Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers in : Light Petal Pink, Light and Dark Seaside Spray, Light Crumb Cake, Light Daffodil Delight and Light Granny Apple Green.

Here’s how to make this wonderful card. First fold the card base as shown above.

The following images are from Stampin’ Up!’s Free As A Bird stamp set. Using the Stamp Off Technique, stamp the leaves with the Sea Foam ink onto the 3 3/4 x 2 1/2 inch piece of Very Vanilla. This means you will first stamp onto a scrap of paper, then onto the card piece. This gives a faded image which is good since we will be stamping a sentiment over it.

Use the Stamp Off Technique again in the Petal Pink ink to stamp the flowers around the leaves.

Use the Memento ink to stamp the sentiment over the leaves and flowers. The “Happy Birthday” sentiment is from Stampin’ Up!s Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set. Set this aside.

Stamp the single bird in Memento ink onto the inch piece of Very Vanilla. Gather your alcohol markers.

Use the Light Daffodil Delight to color the beak and feet. Then use the Light Petal Pink to color the birds breast.

Using gentle brush strokes and the Light Balmy Blue, color the birds feathers. Apply the Light Crumb Cake around the body of the bird.

Use the Light and Dark Petal Pink to blend the Crumb Cake around the breast. Use the Light and Dark Balmy Blue to blend in the Crumb Cake in the feathers of the body.

Light Granny Apple Green was used for the grass.

Now get your Paper Snips to “fussy cut” the bird. This just means we are cutting the image out freehand. I leave a little border, but others will cut right on the line. Choose what looks best to you.

I like to use the Tombow Multipurpose Liquid glue, but you can also use any double sided stick tape. Apply the Bird Ballad Designer Series paper floral print to the ends of the card base.

Adhere the sentiment piece to the Basic Black. Adhere the completed piece to the center of the card base.

Adhere the Bird Ballad Designer Series paper polka dot print to the Petal Pink rectangle.

To adhere the polka dot piece to the card front, fold the left side down. Apply adhesive to the bottom end of both sided on the floral print, lay down the polka dot piece and hold in place with everything flat until the adhesive is stuck down.

Add Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the single bird and adhere it to the card front on the left hand side.

Use the Mini Glue Dots to adhere a bow made from the 3/8 inch Scalloped Lace Trim to the card front near the single bird. If you need help making a bow, see my blog about tying a bow which is from 02/2019: https://theresas-treasures.com/2019/02/15/making-a-bow/

Adhere one of the Flower Faceted Gems to the card front next to the bird.

And believe it or not that is all there is to this card!

Promotion!! I am having a Summer promotion. For every $30 ordered at my store, you can earn 3 tickets. Cute Kitty

Hello Everyone! So I am at my medical conference waiting for the lectures to start and writing my blog about cards! So fun! Think I am the only doctor here doing that?

The next series of 3 cards will be from Stampin’ Up!’s Nine Lives stamp set which is so cute! We will also be using the Cat Builder punch.

This card is for that special friend who “only comes around once in nine lives”!

Measurements: Whisper White card base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches folded at 4 1/4 inches, Melon Mambo 3 3/4 x 3 3/4 inches, Whisper White 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches and 4 x 2 1/2 inches.

We will also be using Melon Mambo ink and Memento ink.

Let’s start with the sentiment “A friend like you comes around once in nine lives” in Memento ink stamped on the upper left hand corner of the 3 1/2 inch Whisper White square.

Using the Memento ink, stamp the outline to the kitty onto the Whisper White 4 x 2 1/4 inch piece on the bottom half.

Next use the Memento ink to ink up the spots. Carefully line up all the outlines and stamp the spots onto the kitty. Isn’t he so adorable?

Insert the stamped cat piece in through the top of the punch and line it up. Squeeze it slightly then push firmly and quickly with your hand to punch the cat out.

Lay the cat onto the piece with the sentiment to be able to position the ball of yarn. This is a Two-step stamp. I tried it both ways and found it easier to stamp the outline first.

I decided to Stamp Off once to lighten the background stamp for the ball of yarn. Use a scrap of paper to stamp on first, then stamp over the outline of the ball of yarn.

I had to try this a few times before I was happy with the result.

We are going to adhere the kitty with the Stampin’ Dimensionals. I cut a sliver from one to put on the tail.

Peel off the protective layer and adhere to the sentiment piece.

Adhere the sentiment and kitty to the square of Melon Mambo.

Now adhere the entire piece to the Whisper White card front. I just love it!

You can leave the card this way or if you have some rhinestones or sequins you may add some bling to the card. I wanted to leave it simple. Tip: When it is time to mail a card with rhinestones on the front, cut a piece of Whisper White card stock at 5 1/4 x 4 inches to lay over the top before sliding the card into the envelope. This helps it slide through the mail sorter without damaging your card.

Stampin’ Up!’s biggest sale of the year, Sale-a-bration, is going on until March 31, 2019. Father’s Day in January?

This is the 2nd in a series of Blog posts about masculine cards. I have had many a time when a holiday has crept up on me before I was able to get a card ready. Ever had that happen? Well, today I am making a Father’s Day card, mostly because the sentiment is in the stamp set -Geared Up Garage-which I started using the other day. But also, I want to be ready this year!

This style of card is “grunge”. It is a lot easier than it looks!

Measurements: Whisper White card base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches folded in half and burnished with the Bone Folder, Basic Black 5 1/4 x 4 inches, Whisper White 4 1/2 x 3 1/4 inches and a scrap of Whisper White 2 3/4 x 2 1/2 inches, and Real Red 2 1/4 x 1 inch.

You will also need Memento ink and a C block to start. Later you will need an A, B, C and D block.

Just a reminder for how to put the label on the new Cling Stamps. First remove the stamp. Then turn the label sheet so the words are backward. Pinch the middle of the desired label.

Gently remove the paper backing without removing the label. Place the stamp with the foam side down over the label, taking care to line up the edges. Press firmly.

Now gently remove the label attached to the stamp. This is very sticky! Do not set it down on anything. Put it on the block right away and when finished, directly back into the stamp case. I do not always put the labels on, but I typically will put on the labels for sentiments.

Use the Memento ink and stamp the Father’s Day sentiment onto the scrap of Whisper White. Note: You do not need the Piercing mat for the red rubber stamps, just stamp onto a smooth firm surface.

Use your paper snips to cut around the sentiment leaving a slight border.

Adhere the sentiment to the Real Red piece. Now cut a banner edge, first by making a cut in the center, then from each corner to the center as shown. Set aside.

Now for the “grunge”! Mount the lug nuts on an A block, the oil can on a B block, the tool box on a C block and the oil spill on a D block (Clockwise from top).

Start with the tool box since it is one of the larger images. Stamp an odd number of times.

Now stamp the oil can and then the lug nuts an odd number of times. I messed up and stamped 6 lug nuts! Fortunately the sentiment with cover one!

We are going to use a technique called “Stamping Off” for stamping the oil spill. First apply Memento ink to the oil spill stamp and stamp it on a scrap of paper. Then stamp onto the card piece. This gives a slightly lighter image. That way the oil spill doesn’t over-power the rest of the images. It just makes it “grungy”.

Continue to first stamp on the scrap paper, then on the card piece, until you like the result.

Adhere the Basic Black to the folded card base. Now adhere the stamped “grunge” piece.

Apply Dimensionals to the back of the sentiment banner and adhere to the front of the card. Viola! You have a Father’s Day card ready to go! Now, if you can just put it away somewhere where you can find it!
