Piece of Cake Wedding Card!

I really feel bad for anyone who was looking forward to a big gathering for their wedding this year in the midst of this pandemic. How awful to have made plans over the last year and then not be able to have your event the way you envisioned it. However, people will still be getting married. And who wants to run to the store right now? Having a handmade Wedding card on hand keeps you prepared.

This wonderful Wedding card is made with the Stampin’ Up!® Piece of Cake stamp set. This set is very versatile because there are 6 different cake stamps. Check it out here.

Measurements: Whisper White Card stock (CS): 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches with a score line at 4 1/4 inches and 4 x 2 inches for stamping the cake; Purple Posy CS: 5 1/4 x 4 inches; Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper (DSP): 5 x 3 3/4 inches; and Silver Foil: 4 x 2 inches.

Using Memento Black Ink stamp the cake on the bottom of the 4 x 2 inch Whisper White CS. Now stamp the floral cake topper on the other end. You will need room to use the Cake Builder Punch in a minute.

I used Stampin’ Write Markers in Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape, Old Olive and Shaded Spruce to color the cake and flowers. I used the Highland Heather Stampin’ Write Marker to color the two tiny flowers located on the cake itself.

I colored the icing decorations in Gorgeous Grape. I left some of the flowers on the cake topper white because I thought they looked like daisies. The leaves are colored in Old Olive with a small amount of Shaded Spruce.

Use the Cake Builder punch to punch out the cake. You will also get a cake stand which we are not going to use. You could save the Whisper White cake stand for another card.

You will need to fussy cut the floral cake topper. It is so small!

Use the Cake Builder Punch to punch a cake stand out of the Silver Foil. Set the pieces of the cake aside for now.

Now for a trick! Hold the 5 1/4 x 4 inch Purple Posy with the 5 x 3 3/4 inch Perennial Essence DSP as shown. You may use some temporary adhesive if you wish.

Use the 2 inch Circle Punch to punch a circle in the upper left quadrant. Do not punch too close to the left edge of the card because the cake will be adhered there.

Here’s the trick! Now separate the DSP from the Purple Posy CS. Use the 2 1/4 inch Circle Punch to enlarge the circle on the DSP. This allows the Purple Posy to show through the DSP on the inside of the circle and be perfectly aligned!

Place the Purple Posy and Perennial Essence DSP pieces together and lay them on the front panel of the 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch Whisper White CS card base. This will show you where to stamp the sentiment.

I also placed the cake and stand on the card temporarily to help with the placement of the sentiment. The “Happy Wedding Day” sentiment is from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set. I stamped the sentiment in Gorgeous Grape ink in the right upper portion of the circle.

I recommend using a lot of Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of the Perennial Essence DSP.

Carefully adhere the Perennial Essence DSP to the Purple Posy CS. Next, use your Bone Folder to help get a nice crisp fold at the 4 1/4 inch score line on the 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch Whisper White CS card base.

Adhere the Purple Posy and DSP panel to the front of the Whisper White CS card base, keeping in mind how you want the sentiment to look.

Apply Stampin’ Dimensionals to all of the cake pieces. Adhere the cake first making sure there is space for the cake topper. Now adhere the cake topper and finally the cake stand.

Tie a bow and add it to the cake stand with a Mini Glue Dot. I used the Metallic Edged Ribbon in silver. (For help with tying a bow, refer to the video in this blog here.

Now for some Bling! I added the Rhinestone Basic Jewels sort of scattered on the Perennial Essence DSP. I placed 2 small Rhinestone Basic Jewels in the center of the flowers on the cake.

And Viola! You have a beautiful Wedding card ready to go! I think I went a little crazy with the Bling! Oh, well. It makes for a very sparkly card!

Thanks again for visiting my blog. I have so much fun creating cards and making a blog post. I hope you try some of the cards. Even if you do not have the specific paper or stamp set, perhaps my cards can be an inspiration for one of your own! Stay safe and healthy!

Retiring Stamp Sets- Painted Harvest

The new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog for 2020-2021 will be mailed out on May 8, 2020. If you would like a copy, shoot me an email at theresastreasures.az@gmail.com. There are many products that will be retiring and some are now at a great discount. Check the “Last Chance Products” tab in the left hand column at my online store here.

This card started off as a Color Challenge I wanted to be in. A Color Challenge is when someone gives you one or more colors to use in a card. You can create whatever you want. The inspiration also came from wanting to use the retiring stamp sets once more.

Today I mainly used the Painted Harvest stamp set. However, the sentiment is from Piece of Cake and the bee is from Honey Bee.

Measurements: Whisper White Card stock (CS): 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches with a score line at 4 1/4 inches, 4 1/4 x 3 inches, 2 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches and a 3 x 1/2 inch strip: Lovely Lipstick CS: 5 7/8 x 4 1/8 inches; and Blushing Bride CS: 4 1/4 x 3 inches.

The Painted Harvest stamp is Two Step Stamp. This means that there are two slightly different stamps that are intended to be stamped on top of one another. These are the two stamps for the sunflower. I am starting with the less detailed stamp on the left.

Stamp three of the sunflowers in a cascade down the 4 1/4 x 3 inch Whisper White CS using Blushing Bride ink.

Switch to the other more detailed stamp of the sunflower. Use Lovely Lipstick ink to stamp right on top of the Blushing Bride flowers.

Using the same detailed sunflower, stamp in Lovely Lipstick along the outside borders of the Lovely Lipstick CS. I call this Tone on Tone because you use the same color for the paper and the ink.

Use Soft Suede ink to stamp the center of the sunflowers.

The leaf is also a Two Step Stamp. I have tried stamping with the more detailed leaf or with the less detailed leaf first. For this stamp I think it is easier to line up the stamps when I start with the more detailed leaf and finish with the less detailed leaf stamp.

Stamp the sentiment “Happy Birthday” and the bee on the corresponding Whisper White CS in Memento ink.

Color the stripes on the bee with the Pineapple Punch Stampin’ Write Marker. Fussy cut the bee (or if you have the Detailed Bee Dies you can cut the bee out with the die).

Trim the sentiment “Happy Birthday” and then we will make a banner end. Make a small center cut.

Now make a cut from one corner to the top of the center cut. Repeat on the other side.

Make another banner on the other end of the sentiment strip.

Use the Bone Folder to get a nice crisp fold at the 4 1/4 inch score line on the 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch Whisper White CS. This is the card base. Adhere the Lovely Lipstick background card piece to the front of the card base.

Adhere the 4 1/4 x 3 inch Blushing Bride CS at a slant on top of the Lovely Lipstick background. Now adhere the sunflower card piece parallel to the Lovely Lipstick card piece.

Oops! I got some Soft Suede ink in the wrong place. This happens when the edge of the clear block gets inked. No worries. You can always fix this with either a sentiment over the top or Bling. I put the “Happy Birthday” right over the mistake and no one is the wiser!

Add the cute little bee and Viola! You have a wonderful Birthday card ready to go!

Thanks so much for coming by today! I wish you a great day and hope you are well and safe!

Sparkly Wedding Cake Card

Boy, what a day! I was planning on finishing the blog about this gorgeous, sparkly wedding cake card, but my youngest son had a Science Fair paper and display board to do. So we spent the whole day doing that! Now, I am going to get this out to you!

This beautiful wedding card is not hard to make as you will see by the following steps. This is the 3rd in a series of 3 cards made with Stampin’ Up!’s Piece of Cake stamp set.

Measurements: Whisper White card base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches folded at 4 1/4 inches; Petal Pink 5 x 2 1/4 inches, Floral Romance Designer Series Paper (DSP) 4 3/4 x 2 inches, Fresh Fig 3 x 2 1/4 inches and Whisper White 2 3/4 x 2 inches.

Some of the other products you will need are Memento Ink, Fresh Fig Ink and the Dark Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blend alcohol marker.

First stamp the cake platter in Memento ink onto the bottom half of the 2 3/4 x 2 inch piece of Whisper White.

Next stamp the cake in Fresh Fig onto the platter. As you can see, some ink got on my block. Fortunately it did not get on my cardstock!

Now add the little floral bouquet in Fresh Fig on top of the cake.

Use the Dark Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blend alcohol marker to color the roses and rosebuds, as well as the center of the daisy-like flowers.

Adhere the colored cake onto the 3 x 2 1/4 inch piece of Fresh Fig. Set aside.

The Floral Romance Designer series paper has this piece of Vellum in the pack. Isn’t it gorgeous? Vellum is a special type of paper that is more translucent. As such, the adhesive will often show through to the other side. Tip: I used a very thin line of the Multipurpose Liquid Glue around the edges.

When adhering the Vellum to the piece of Petal Pink cardstock, I gently massaged the glue into an even layer so that it did not show through.

Lay the two completed card pieces onto the Whisper White card base without using any adhesive. This is to help with placement of the sentiment. Stamp the sentiment “Mr & Mrs” in Memento Ink to the lower right hand corner of the card front.

Now use adhesive to adhere the Petal Pink piece to the card front.

Using Stampin’ Dimensionals on the cake piece, adhere it to the middle of the card front.

This is a very pretty wedding card. But we are not finished yet. We are going to add some bling!

These sparkly pink flowers and sequins are from the Gingham Gala Adhesive-Backed Sequins in the Stampin’ Up! 2019 Occasions Catalog. In order to transfer them easily, I use the Paper Piercing Tool.

First I added one flower sequin in the center, then one on either side of it to continue the garland.

Next I added 3 sequins. The 3rd sequin is on the little pink flower.

And Viola! You have made a wonderful, gorgeous and sparkly wedding card! Now to get invited to a wedding!

I am heading out of town for the rest of the week to attend a medical conference. You may or may not know that I am a retired Family Medicine Physician. I still try to keep my brain active by keeping up my medical education hours. My plan is to try to blog while there. I have the next 3 cards all ready to go! If it doesn’t work out, I will have the blogs for you next week.

I am going to be using the Stampin’ Up! Nine Lives stamp set. And yes, you guessed it, it has to do with cats!

Happy Birthday Cake

Hello fellow stampers! Today I have a wonderful Birthday cake card for you!

This is the second in a series of 3 cake cards and is made with Stampin’ Up!’s Piece of Cake stamp set. Let’s get started!

Measurements: Whisper White card base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches folded at 4 1/4 inches, Flirty Flamingo 5 1/4 x 4 inches, Whisper White 3 1/2 x 2 1/4 inches and 3 x 1/2 inches. You will also need one of the Pearlized Doilies.

I will be using the Flirty Flamingo and Smoky Slate ink pads and the Stampin’ Blend alcohol markers in Dark Flirty Flamingo, Light Mango Melody and Light Smoky Slate. I will also use Memento ink (not pictured).

The first stamp is the little bunch of swirled lollipops. Who remembers getting those at the State Fair as a kid? I do! Stamp the lollipops in different directions all around the Flirty Flamingo card piece. Keep in mind that a small heart will need to fit in between the lollipops, so do not stamp them too close together. Tip: Remember to use the Stampin’ Pierce Mat for the Photopolymer stamps

Now use the small heart to fill in between the lollipops. This is the background for your card, your own Designer Series Paper!

Adhere this to the Whisper White card base.

The cake platter is stamped in Smoky Slate. Stamp towards the bottom so there is enough room for cake and candles.

Stamp the cake in Flirty Flamingo.

And now the candles in Flirty Flamingo.

I used the Dark Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blend alcohol marker to color the icing.

Now color the candles in Dark Flirty Flamingo.

For the flames I used the Light Mango Melody Stampin’ Blend alcohol marker.

The shadow on the platter is done in the Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blend alcohol marker.

Using Memento ink, stamp the “Happy Birthday” sentiment onto the Whisper White strip on the right hand side.

Cut a banner end first by cutting the middle, then from each corner to the middle.

Apply the Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the cake.

Place the doily slightly to the right and adhere to the Flirty Flamingo card piece. Adhere the cake piece on top of the doily.

Apply the Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the “Happy Birthday” sentiment strip.

Adhere the “Happy Birthday” sentiment strip to the right side of the card front.

And now you have a wonderful Happy Birthday card! That went by so quickly, don’t you think? Remember how special it feels for someone to remember your birthday? Pass that feeling on to someone today and give them this card!

Cake is the Answer!

Today is a very gloomy day outside and we are supposed to get a big snow storm. To top it off I have caught a sinus cold and I feel miserable. Good thing there is card making to be done to take my mind off of everything! When I get to making and creating cards, the time just flies by and I feel exhilarated!

Today is the first in a series of three cards made with Stampin’Up!’s Piece of Cake stamp set. Today’s card is very easy and simple to make.

This is the stamp set I will be using. There are many possibilities for the cake and the occasion. We will be making the card above as well as a birthday card and a wedding card in the next blog posts.

Measurements: Whisper White card base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches folded at 4 1/4 inches, Flirty Flamingo 4 1/2 x 1 inches, Whisper White 3 x 3 inches and 4 1/2 x 3/4 inches.

I will also be using Memento ink, and the Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers in Light Flirty Flamingo, Dark Flirty Flamingo and Light Mango Melody (not pictured) .

The first step is to lay the sentiment on the strip of Whisper White to be able to get the sentence straight. Once you have it straight, press the clear block over the Photopolymer stamp to adhere it. Now use the Memento ink and stamp the sentiment to the right side of the Whisper White strip. Tip: Always use the Stampin’ Pierce Mat with the Photopolymer stamps to get the best image.

Using the Memento ink, stamp the cake and the platter onto the 3 x 3 inch piece of Whisper White.

There is a Cake Builder punch but it will not be available to order again until March 18, 2019. It was overwhelmingly popular. So we are going to fussy cut the platter and cake with the Paper Snips. Leave a 2-3 mm border around the outside line of the image.

Use the Light Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blend alcohol marker to color the stripes and the smaller circles.

Use the Dark Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blend alcohol marker to color the larger circles and the layers.

Place the strip of Flirty Flamingo on the card just below half-way. Hold the cake in place and use a pencil to draw a light line where the top of the cake is.

Use the Memento ink to stamp the candles just at the pencil mark.

Use the Dark Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blend alcohol marker to color the candles.

Use the Light Mango Melody Stampin’ Blend alcohol marker to color the flames.

Adhere the sentiment strip to the Flirty Flamingo strip.

Adhere the strip about 1/4 inches below the candles.

Use the Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of the cake and the platter.

Adhere the cake then the platter.

That was a quick and easy card that I hope you will enjoy making. It is a wonderful card to send when wanting to just send a hello or quick note and is sure to put a smile on the recipients face!

In the next post we will be making a Birthday card, so I hope you will join me!

Stampin’ UP! Sale-a-bration is going on until March 31, 2019 but some of the free choices have already run out, so don’t delay in making your order.
