Around the World On Wednesday Blog Hop-July 2025- Tic Tac Toe and CASE with Gallery Blooms

Hello and welcome! I am Theresa McEntee, creator of Theresa’s Treasures Paper Crafts. Today I have the pleasure of participating in the Blog Hop with Around the World on Wednesday (AWOW).

2025 marks a special milestone. We are celebrating 5 fabulous years of creative inspiration together! In order to honor the occasion, we are CASEing (Copy and Selectively Editing) one of our talented members each month. This month we are happy to focus on Aurélie Fabre.

The AWOW team put together a thematic hop to give you some inspiration for your own crafting. Tic Tac Toe is this month’s theme.

I chose shadow, circle and texture from the Tic Tac Toe. Aurélie’s style is know for texture, techniques and layers. This made creating a card to CASE hers loads of fun!

My Project for today

This card was made using the Gallery Blooms stamp set and Dies. I used the Stampin’ Blends in: Secret Sea, Cloud Cover, Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Pecan Pie, Calypso Coral and Peach Pie.

The leaves and flowers are die cut with the Gallery Bloom Dies from the Beautiful Gallery DSP.

The Pecan Pie cardstock circle is die cut with the Spotlight on Nature Dies.

The vintage-style is created by using a Sponge Dauber to apply Pecan Pie Ink to the edges of the DSP on each panel.

What I learned from this Friday Fun Fold Pop Up Box Birthday Card

Hello my stamping friends! I hope all has been well with you this week. Today I have a Friday Fun Fold Pop Up Box Birthday Card for you. I learned this fold from Rachel Tessman who made it as a Paper Pumpkin alternative. You can see her card HERE. The first go around I made several mistakes. There will be tips for you so that you will be able to avoid the same mistakes I made.

The New Horizons Designer Series Paper (DSP) is so awesome, I am in love with it! This paper is super great for scenic watercolor backgrounds. I will be using the New Horizons DSP for today’s card along with the Sailing Home stamp set.

This is a photo of the second Friday Fun Fold Pop Up Box Birthday Card card I made. I will give you tips so that your first card comes out right.

Measurements

Friday Fun Fold Pop Up Box Birthday Card

Misty Moonlight Card Stock (CS) card base: 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches.

New Horizons Designer Series Paper (DSP): The scene will be portrait orientation. Cut the 6 x 6 inch scene at 4 1/4 inches first. Then cut the resulting strip to be 1 5/8 x 5 1/2 inches. Cut the scene to be 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches. You will need to use 2 sheets to get both scenes. One scene for the front and one for the back of the card.

Basic White CS: 2 1/2 x 1 inch (for sentiment) and 2 x 4 inch to stamp the larger sailboats on.

Night of Navy CS: 2 3/4 x 1 inch (for sentiment)

Ink: Night of Navy

Scoring the Card Base

Score at 1/2, 2 1/8, 2 5/8, 4 1/4, 5 7/8, 6 7/8 and 8 inches.

Preparing the Card Base

First Tip: Do not burnish the score lines until after you make the slot. Make the slot as thin as you can. The slot on the left is too wide. This made the finished card unstable. Use the Stampin’ Up! Trimmer to get a thin slot. Set the left edge of the card base at 4 5/16 inches and make a cut from 1 1/8 to 4 3/8 inches. Then turn the card base 180° and cut again. Use your paper snips to cut the extra piece off to make the slot.

Second Tip: Adhere the 1 5/8 x 5 1/2 inch strips of the New Horizons DSP close to the 4 1/4 inch score line, but do not cover the score line. The card should be easy to fold.

Stamping

Stamp the large sailboat twice in Night of Navy Ink onto a scrap of Basic White CS. Use a scrap of the News Horizons to stamp the small sailboat twice. You may fussy cut the sailboats or use the Smooth Sailing Dies.

Stamp the desired sentiment onto the 1 x 2 1/2 inch Basic White CS with Night of Navy Ink. I used the “Happy Birthday” from the Celebrating You stamp set.

Assembling the Fun Fold

One difference between my card and Rachel’s is that I wanted an image on both the front and the back of the card. That way there is something to look at forward and backward. Adhere the top of the two sailboat scenes together. Apply a Tear-n-Tape strip to the bottom of the back one.

Insert the sailboat scene through the slot in the card base. Align the bottom of the sailboat scene with the 1/2 inch score line. Take the protective layer off of the Tear-n-Tape on the scene. Fold the base at the 1/2 inch score line so that it sticks to the sail boat scene. Apply a strip of the Tear-n-Tape to the Misty Moonlight bottom.

Peel the protective layer off of the Tear-n-Tape. Adhere the two sailboat scene pieces together. Press down. Apply more Tear-n-Tape over the bottom of the sail boat scene. Remove the protective covering.

Fold the card base at the 4 1/4 inch score line to adhere the sides together.

Here is how the Pop Up Box looks from the side and all the way folded down. Cool right?!

Decorating the Pop Up Box

Tip: The first go around I put the small sailboat on the left and the sentiment on the right. The second time I was able to add the larger sailboat if I put the small sailboat to the right. Note: I forgot to stamp the birds on the sail boat scene for the first card. I really like the scene much better with the birds added.

On the backside, I placed the small sailboat on the left and the larger sailboat on the right as shown.

Be sure to adhere the sail boats and sentiment to the small strip under the DSP piece so that they pop up!

Finished Product

Here are the forward and backward views of the first card.

Here are the forward and backward views of the second card.

Voila! I hope you are successful with this. I really felt a sense of accomplishment after figuring this Fun Fold Pop Up Box Birthday card out.

Thanks so much for reading my blog. Please leave a comment and let me know if you like the way I am doing this blog. Helpful suggestions are welcome.

Stampin’ Up!® Woodland Wonder Fun Fold for Friday

Welcome to the Stampin’ Up!® Woodland Wonder Fun Fold for Friday! This is an adorable and fun card to wish Happy Birthday to someone young at heart. The Stampin’ Up!® Woodland Wonder stamp set is found in the 2021 January to June Mini Catalog on page 53. You can buy one for yourself right HERE.

This cute Fun Fold opens up to reveal a tall tree with a family of animals ready to say “Hip-Hip-Hoo-Ray!”

Measurements

Measurements: One piece of 4 1/4 x 11 inch Basic White Card Stock (CS) with score lines at 2, 3 3/4, 7 1/4 and 9 inches.

Folding the Fun Fold

Fold the Basic White CS card base as shown.

Stamping

The first step is to stamp the bottom of the tree in Memento ink so that the top of the stamp abuts the 9 inch score line and is in the center.

Fold the card closed and use a pencil to mark where the borders of the tree trunk are. This is to help guide you where to stamp the top of the tree so that when the Fun Fold is closed the tree trunks are aligned.

The next step is to fold the card part way and make a pencil mark at the border of the tree trunk. Use these pencil marks when you stamp the large image of the tree trunk with all the animals to help keep the trunk aligned. There will be some space between the top of the trunk with the animals and the tree top trunk.

Masking

Masking. To be able to fill in the tree trunk you will need a sticky note to cover the grass on the tree trunk bottom. Use the Memento ink upside down to ink up the trunk. Then remove the sticky note before you stamp.

More Stamping

You will need to stamp the masked bottom trunk twice to fill in the space.

Use your Stampin’ Write Marker in Basic Black to fill in the spaces between the stamped trunks. Mine is a tad bit off, but little “errors” like that is what makes this card a homemade card!

Continue to use the Memento ink to stamp the pole as if the squirrel were holding it. Add the “HIP-HIP-HOO-RAY!” banner.

To finish up, stamp the sentiments “happy birthday” and “from all of us” onto the bottom of the card.

Let the Memento ink dry well. Use your bone folder to make the folds nice a crisp. This is what the front should look like when the card is closed.

Coloring

I used the Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Markers to color the tree and animals. The colors I used were: Granny Apply Green, Cinnamon Cider, Crumb Cake, So Saffron, Mango Melody, Gray Granite, Flirty Flamingo, Balmy Blue, Real Red, Smoky Slate and Daffodil Delight.

This is what it looks like on the front after coloring.

In order to keep the card closed until that special someone opens it, I used a 16-inch piece of the Bumblebee In Color Ribbon. The ribbon is adhered to the back of the card with a glue dot.

Viola! Now you have an adorable Fun Fold to wish someone a very Happy Birthday!

Confession: I had to stamp this card several times before getting it right. Several times I dropped the stamp on the card and once I forgot to remove the stick-not mask before stamping. Point is-don’t give up, keep trying and you will have a really cool card!
