Happy Thoughts and Simple Stamping

Welcome to my blog with Happy Thoughts and Simple Stamping. I will be using the Stampin’ Up! Happy Thoughts stamp set and the Well Suited Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the 2021 January-June Stampin’ Up! Mini Catalog. This card is very simple and quick to make.

This card is a very masculine card which looks very nice and is super easy to put together. You could change the sentiment to be anything you want.

The Happy Thoughts stamp set is a great set for a beginner. Not only do you have several main categories of cards, but you also have a sentiment for the inside of the card.

The Well Suited DSP is so awesome for masculine cards! I really struggle with masculine cards. However, a great package of masculine Designer Series Paper can make all the difference. You can purchase this great DSP HERE.

Measurements

Measurements: Basic White Card Stock (CS) card base: 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches with a score line at 4 1/4 inches; Night Of Navy CS: 4 x 5 1/4 inches; Basic White CS: 2 1/4 x 4 inches; Well Suited DSP Striped Pattern: 1 3/8 x 2 1/4 inches and 2 1/4 x 2 5/8 inches; Well Suited DSP Diamond Pattern: 1 3/8 x 2 5/8 inches and 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 inches.

Stamping

There is minimal stamping for this card. You just need a sentiment that will fit inside the 2 inch circle punch. I started with the “Thinking of You” sentiment from the Happy Thoughts stamp set. I stamped the sentiment with Memento ink onto the 2 1/4 x 4 inch Basic White CS. Note: If you are new to stamping, please look back at my blog for applying the labels to the Cling stamps HERE.

Use the 2 inch Circle Punch to punch the sentiment out. Tip: I find it to be easy to punch when the punch is lying on the table and I use the heel of my hand to push down firmly and quickly.

Putting It All Together

The next step is to lay out the pieces so you can have an idea of where you want to adhere them. There is about a 1/8 inch border around all of the pieces.

Now we can adhere the pieces. I started with the upper left-hand corner followed by the upper right-hand corner. I finished up with the lower left-hand corner. Note: I have found the best adhesive to be the Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue because it allows you a little time to wiggle the piece in place before it really sticks.

Next use the Bone Folder on the Basic White CS card base at the 4 1/4 inch score line to make a crisp fold. Then adhere the front panel to the front of the Basic White CS card base.

Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment to the card front.

This step is optional. I felt the card was a little plain, so I used the Well Suited Twine Combo Pack to make a double stranded bow to place right under the sentiment. Note: I have a video to help with making a bow that you can watch HERE.

Viola! You have made a quick and easy masculine card that is good for any occasion just by changing the sentiment!

Thanks for visiting today. I hope you enjoyed how easy this card is. On Wacky Wednesday I will be showing some more Techniques for using the Gilded Leafing Embellishment so I hope you will be able to join me.

Stampin’ Up!® Peace & Joy for a Cat Lovers Christmas

Good Morning! I hope you are getting started on a lovely day. I have a really cute card today using the Cat Punch and the Peace & Joy stamp set.

I just love the Stampin’ Up! color Pacific Point. It is just so soothing. I am also in love with the Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper (DSP) which is the snowy background. Right now you can get the DSP for 20% off during the Giant Year-End Closeout from December 8, 2020 to January 4, 2021. Shop HERE. Download the complete list of retiring products and discounts below.

The Peace & Joy stamp set has several large sentiments along with smaller strip sentiments to design your own personal sentiment. It is also on the retiring list.

Measurements: Whisper White Card Stock (CS) card base: 4 1/4 x 11 inches with a score line at 5 1/2 inches; Pacific Point CS: 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches and 3 x 4 inches; Snowflake Splendor DSP: 4 x 5 1/4 inches; and Whisper White CS: 3 x 3 inches, 1 1/2 x 4 inches and 1/2 x 3 inches.

Stamp the “Peace” sentiment in Pacific Point ink onto the 1 1/2 x 4 inch Whisper White CS. Stamp the sentiment “To you and yours” onto the 1/2 x 3 inch Whisper White CS. Note: When using the Photopolymer stamps, you will need something underneath like the Stampin’ Pierce Mat or a catalog to get the best image.

Fussy cut the sentiments with your Paper Snips and set aside.

Use the 2 1/4 inch Circle Punch to punch a circle on the upper portion of the Snowflake Splendor DSP in the middle. The DSP in this photo is upside down. Be sure to push the DSP all the way down into the punch.

Adhere the 3 x 3 inch Whisper White CS to the back of the Snowflake Splendor DSP covering the 2 1/4 inch circle. I am using a Silicon craft Sheet to avoid having the project stick to my table. Flip over and adhere the card piece to the 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inch Pacific Point CS.

Punch the cat out of the 3 x 4 inch Pacific Point CS with the Cat Builder Punch. Adhere the cat in front of the “moon”.

Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the “Peace” sentiment under the cat. Adhere the “To you and yours” sentiment under the “Peace”.

Use your Bone Folder to fold the 4 1/4 x 11 inch Whisper White CS card base at the 5 1/2 inch score line. Adhere the cat card piece to the front of the card base.

Viola! You have a soothing card to send some peace to your favorite cat lover.

Celebrate Sunflowers Thank You Card with the Masking Technique

An attitude of gratitude has been shown to be related to a person’s overall sense of well being*. I have definitely noticed this in myself. On days when I am able to cultivate an attitude of gratitude, I feel much happier and more satisfied. I also try to let others know when I appreciate something they did. The card today is a great one to send to someone to say “Thanks a Bunch”!

This is the bright and cheerful “Thanks A Bunch” card for today made with the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set by Stampin’ Up! and available in the new 2020-2021 Annual Stampin’ Up! Catalog. You can look through the catalog by clicking HERE.

Measurements: Very Vanilla Card Stock (CS): 11 x 4 1/4 inches with a score line at 5 1/2 inches, 5 x 3 3/4 inches and 3 1/4 x 3/4 inches; Pumpkin Pie CS: 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 inches; Cajun Craze CS: 5 1/8 x 3 7/8 inches.

Stamp the large sunflower onto the 5 x 3 3/4 inch Very Vanilla CS in Memento Black ink. Stamp towards the top in order to leave room for the sentiment and leaves.

Masking Technique– Using a sticky note with sticky all over the back, cover 1/2 diagonally with a sheet of paper so you can stamp one side of the sunflower. Note: the sunflower stamp is too large to just stamp it straight on the sticky note.

Now mask the area where you stamped with the paper and stamp the other side. Fussy cut the petals out for each side.

Cover the sunflower stamped on the Very Vanilla CS with the sticky note mask. Stamp the leaves in Memento Black ink where you would like them. An odd number of leaves will generally be more pleasing to the eye than an even number.

Remove the mask from the sunflower. Stamp the sentiment “Thanks A Bunch” in Memento ink onto the 3 1/4 x 3/4 inch strip of Very Vanilla CS.

I used the Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Markers to color the sunflower and leaves. The alcohol markers are easy to use and to get a nice blend of shadow. The leaves are colored first in Light Old Olive, then Dark Old Olive is blended in to make the shadowing.

The center of the sunflower is colored first with Light Cajun Craze, then with Light and Dark Soft Suede. The Soft Suede is used on the innermost part of the flowers center. There is also a ring of Dark Cajun Craze near the outermost part of the center. The inner petals are colored first with Light Mango Melody then shadowed with Dark Mango Melody by drawing on the lines that are already there. The second layer of petals is colored with Light Pumpkin Pie.

The second layer is shadowed with Dark Pumpkin Pie, again by drawing on the lines that are already there. The outer layer of petals is colored with Dark Pumpkin pie and then shadowed with Light Cajun Craze.

I used the side of the Light Pumpkin Pie to enhance the edge of the sentiment by running it lightly along the edge. Don’t hold the alcohol marker in place too long because it will bleed and leave a splotch.

Use the Bone Folder to fold the 11 x 4 1/4 inch Very Vanilla CS at the 5 1/2 inch score line and make a crisp fold. Adhere the 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 inch Pumpkin Pie CS to the card front, then adhere the 5 1/8 x 3 7/8 inch Cajun Craze CS on top of the Pumpkin Pie CS. Next adhere the stamped sunflower piece. Finish by adhering the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

And now for some fun with Bling! I used the Gold Metallic Pearls and scattered them around the sunflower.

Viola! You have a very cheerful thank you note to send off to someone! Making the card brings you joy, and receiving the card sends a little joy to them!
