Stampin’ Up!® Turtle Friends Birthday for the Paper Players PP542- Sketch Challenge

Today I have card for The Paper Players Challenge which is a sketch challenge.

Here is the card I came up with using the Turtle Friends stamp set by Stampin’ Up! This is such a cute set. My Mom loved turtles. She collected little turtle figurines. When she passed away, each of her 16 grandchildren were allowed to select one of the turtle figurines to take with them. This card is a tribute to her.

The paper on the lower third of the card is from the Whale of a Time Designer Series Paper. The turtle is stamped in Shaded Spruce ink onto Just Jade Card Stock (CS). The bird is stamped in Pacific Point ink onto Balmy Blue CS. The card base is Balmy Blue CS and is embossed with the new Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder. The rhinestones are from the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Here is a peek at the inside. So adorable!

For more ideas from this sketch challenge visit The Paper Players to see how other crafters used the sketch for their cards.

Cardz4Guyz Challenge #270- Monochromatic with Sailing Home by Stampin’ Up!®

This awesome handmade Father’s Day card was so fun to make! I feel energized when I have a chance to be creative! The Cardz4Guyz Challenge #270-Monochromatic was a great inspiration.

The Stampin’ Up! colors are: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Very Vanilla for the Card Stock (CS). The ink is Memento in Rich Cocoa (not a Stampin’ Up! product). The stitched outline on the Early Espresso CS is made with the Stitched With Whimsy Dies. The Crumb Cake CS card base was embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.

I also like to do some stamping on the inside of the card. I just continued the rope and anchor.

I used the Stampin’ Up! Smooth Sailing dies to easily cut out the images of the lighthouse and anchor. The twine is from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack. The sentiment is from the retired Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set.

Sending Sunshine Stampin’ Up!®

The card for today will be a #simplestamping card because I will use only stamps, ink and paper (and a punch). There is a set of stamps made by Stampin’ Up! to help you easily create your own scenes. Sending Sunshine is the one I will use today. The other similar stamp sets are My Meadow and Snow Front. All of these sets are in the 2020-21 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.

This really is a very simple card to create. You will be surprised.

Measurements: Whisper White Card Stock (CS): 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches with a score line at 4 1/4 inches (card base), 2 3/4 x 3 3/4 inches and 2 1/4 x 3 1/2 inches; Balmy Blue CS: 4 x 5 1/4 inches.

Use the Memento Black Ink to stamp the sentiment “Hoping Your Day is Perfect” onto the 2 1/4 x 3 1/2 inch Whisper White CS. Take care to position the stamped sentiment so that you can punch it out with the 2 inch Circle Punch.

Lay the layers of the card on the card front and position the sentiment. Move it slightly downward and trace the edge. This will help make sure that the scene is positioned properly.

Place the 2 3/4 x 3 2/4 inch Whisper White CS on the Stampin’ Pierce Mat. When using the Photopolymer stamps (the see-through ones) you need a slight cushion. You could also use your catalog. I cover my Pierce Mat with white scrap paper to avoid getting ink on it. I put the black paper down so you could see the card piece better. Stamp the smaller water onto the Whisper White CS. I placed mine slightly to the right so that it would not be covered by the sentiment later.

Apply the Daffodil Delight ink to the bottom portion of the setting sun stamp. Apply the Calypso Coral ink only to the upper portion by placing the stamp on the edge of the ink pad.

Carefully line up the setting sun and the horizon of the water. Mine is a little too high, but I opted to just let it be. (It’s the little imperfections that make a handmade card special!)

Use the Granny Apple Green ink to stamp the larger branch of leaves. Add some of the smaller branches to make the trees more full.

I added some faint clouds with the Balmy Blue ink by first stamping onto my scrap paper, then stamping onto the card piece. This is called Stamping Off.

To help the sentiment stand out a little, I used a Sponge Dauber with Balmy Blue ink to sponge the edge.

Adhere the 4 x 5 1/4 inch Balmy Blue CS to the Whisper White CS card base, then adhere your stamped card piece. I prefer to use the Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue because when I first put the card piece down, I can wiggle it a little to make sure it is straight.

Add Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the sentiment and put it in place on the card front being sure to cover the pencil marks.

The card is finished. However, if you would like to add a little Bling! you could use the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush on the water to make it sparkle.

Viola! See how quick and simple that was! Experiment with different colors and combinations of the stamps from the Sending Sunshine stamp set, or combine it with the My Meadow or Snow Front. There are endless possibilities to the scenes you can create!

Seaside Notions for End of Summer Seaside Birthday Card

This wonderful summer Birthday card was inspired by a swap I received. A swap is a card that you make multiple copies of and take to a stamping event with you. There you will meet others who have made swap and you swap cards with them. Unfortunately I have lost the name of who made the swap I was inspired by.

Measurements: Very Vanilla Card Stock (CS): 4 1/4 x 11 inch card base with a score line at 5 1/2 inches, two 4 x 5 1/4 inch, 2 x 4 1/2 inches and 1 x 3 3/4 inches.

I used Memento ink for the stamping and I colored with Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Markers. I used the light and dark Blend of each of the following colors: Pool Party, Purple Posy, Petal Pink, Crumb Cake and Soft Suede.

Using the Memento ink, stamp the sea horse onto the 2 x 4 1/2 inch Very Vanilla CS and the “Happy Birthday” sentiment onto the 1 x 3 3/4 inch strip of Very Vanilla CS.

On one of the 4 x 5 1/4 inch Very Vanilla CS pieces I stamped a row of the conch shell, then added the sand dollars.

Next I stamped the snail shell. I filled in the spaces with the clam shell. I added another conch shell on the very bottom left and top right. This is a slightly organized random pattern in my book! Ha, ha! 🙂

Don’t do this step because it turned out to be a mistake later on but i wanted to share this with you so you won’t make the same mistake. On the inside of the card base I stamped another sea horse and two sand dollars. I recommend that you stamp the sea horse and sand dollars onto the other 4 x 5 1/4 inch Very Vanilla CS piece.

Again do not do this step. Once I used the Stampin’ Blends to color the sea horse and sand dollars, I realized that the markers bled through to the back. Whoa! 😲 The way I fixed it is that I cut the inside panel to be 4 x 5 1/4 inches and made another 4 1/4 x 11 inch Very Vanilla CS card base.

On with the fun. Color the sea horse with the light and dark Soft Suede Blends.

For each of the shells, I decided to add a shadow to the lower right hand side. I did this by first coloring in the shell with the Light Crumb Cake Blend. I then went over the lower right with the Dark Crumb Cake Blend. Lastly I went over the area I wanted shadowed again with the Light Crumb Cake Blend to blend the light and dark together.

I repeated the process with all the shells. The conch shells are colored in Petal Pink. The snail shell is colored in Pool Party and the clam shell in Purple Posy.

Fussy cut the sea horse that is stamped on the 2 x 4 1/2 inch Very Vanilla CS. Place cut up Stampin’ Dimensionals and Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals on the tail and head, leaving the body without Dimensionals.

Adhere the body of the sea horse to the left side of the Happy Birthday sentiment. Cut a banner end on the right end of the sentiment strip.

Adhere the 4 x 5 1/4 inch Very Vanilla CS stamped with the sea horse to the inside of the 4 1/4 x 11 inch Very Vanilla CS card base. Use the Bone Folder on the 5 1/2 inch score line to make a crisp fold.

Adhere the other 4 1/4 x 5 inch Very Vanilla CS stamped with the shells to the card front. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of the sentiment strip and adhere in place.

Now for some Bling! The Wink of Stella Glitter Brush is perfect for adding a little sparkle to the sea horse.

Viola! You have a fun end of summer Birthday card to send off to someone special. I just love the sparkle!

Thank you for visiting theresas-treasures.com today. I hope you enjoyed this end of summer card. I am looking forward to some cooler temperatures, but here in Arizona it may be quite awhile. Good thing I can craft inside!

Cardz 4 Guyz Challenge # 251- Gone Fishing with Whale Done

The Cardz4Guyz Challenge #251 is Gone Fishing. I didn’t have any fishing stamp sets, but I do have a big fish in the fun Whale Done stamp set and some great Whale of a Time Designer Series Paper (DSP).

The card base is Night Of Navy cardstock. The next layer is Misty Moonlight. For the Granny Apple Green panel I embossed it with the Seabed 3D Embossing Folder. Next I used a Sponge Dauber to sponge on some Granny Apple Green ink and highlight the fabulous design made by the embossing. Inside the card, I used a panel of Whisper White card stock, then adhered a 1 inch strip of the little fish pattern of the DSP with an edge of Night Of Navy card stock.

I first stamped the whale in Misty Moonlight ink. I used the Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Markers in Light and Dark Balmy Blue, and Light and Dark Misty Moonlight to enhance the whales features. I used the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker to bring out the whales smile and eye, and add shadow to the fin. I punched the whale out with the Whale Builders Punch. I used the Whale of a Time Sequins to add “bubbles” above the whale and the little fish.

The fun and colorful little fish pattern of the Whale of a Time DSP on the card front is bordered by Daffodil Delight card stock.

I hope you like my card. Please leave a comment and share what you think. I appreciate you stopping by today. Go to the Cardz4Guyz blog and see everyone else’s cards! Lots of great inspiration!

Cardz 4 Guyz Challenge #242- By the Sea

The current challenge on the Cardz 4 Guyz blog is to create a masculine card with the theme “By the Sea”.

This card was made using a few Stampin’ Up!® stamp sets. Several images come from the Sailing Home and Sea of Textures stamp sets. The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Birthdays. The watermarks are from the Beauty Abounds stamp set.

The colors are: Balmy Blue, Night of Navy, Smoky Slate, Pear Pizzazz and Crumb Cake.

Masculine Sailing Home Birthday Card

Hello! I hope you all are staying well. If you are working at home during this Coronavirus Pandemic, I hope you are taking some time for fun and relaxation. Look ahead and see who has a Birthday coming up. My Brother In Law has a birthday at the beginning of April. I decided to go ahead and make his card today.

This is a really quick and simple card. I used the Stampin’ Up! Sailing Home and High Tide Stamp sets for the sea images, and the Itty Bitty Birthdays for the sentiment. Click on the title of the stamp set to go to the online store and view it.

Measurements: Whisper White cardstock (CS): 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches scored at 4 1/4 inches; Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper (DSP): 5 1/2 x 2 3/8 inches; Night of Navy: 4 1/8 x 3 3/8 inches and Seaside Spray CS: 4 x 3 1/2 inches.

The first step is to stamp the “Happy Birthday” sentiment in Night Of Navy ink onto the 4 x 3 1/2 inch piece of Seaside Spray CS. Stamp towards the bottom and in the center.

Cover the sentiment with sticky note tape. This is a mask. Stamp the lighthouse and the sail boat in the Night Of Navy ink.

Use the waves image stamp from the High Tide stamp set to make it appear that the sail boat is in water.

Lastly, stamp the seagulls from the High Tide stamp set onto the upper right hand corner. If you want fewer seagulls, there is a similar stamp in the Sailing Home set but there are only 3 birds.

Let dry then remove the mask. Adhere the stamped piece to the 4 1/8 x 3 3/8 inch Night of Navy CS piece.

Apply Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the card piece.

Use the Bone Folder to get a nice crisp fold at the 4 1/4 inch scoreline on the 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch piece of Whisper White CS. Adhere the Come Sail Away DSP piece to the front of the card base, slightly to the left side.

And there you have a really nice card. But, I wanted to add a little something to give it more panache.

I tied a small piece of the Night of Navy/Sahara Sand Baker’s Twine on the anchor from the Sail Away Trinkets and attached it to the card with a glue dot.

Viola! You have a great masculine birthday card! That was a fast one!

Thanks for joining me today. I hope you get a chance to make some birthday cards for you friends and family. Nothing says “I care about you” like a homemade card or gift!
