Fun Fold Friday Box Pop Up Card with Country Home and Jar of Flowers and Coloring Tips

First I just want to take a moment to remember and reflect on all of those affected by the horrific events on September 11, 2001.

For today I have a special fun fold for you. This is a little challenging, but I will give step by step instructions. Warning, there are a lot of photos to help show how I created this card.

The Country Home and Jar of Flowers stamp sets pair together nicely. I love the sunflowers because they remind me of the approaching Autumn with their golden yellow and brown colors. The pop-up box of flowers on the inside of the card is a nice surprise!

Measurements: Cajun Craze Card Stock (CS) card base: 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches with a score line at 4 1/4 inches; Crumb Cake CS: 5 1/4 x 8 inches with a score line at 4 inches, 3 3/4 x 5 inches and 1 x 3 inches; Very Vanilla CS: 3 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches, 3 x 5 inches, 3/4 x 3 3/4 inches and two 1 x 1 1/2 inches.

I drew dark solid lines to indicate cutting and dashed lines for scoring. You do not need to draw the lines. First you are going to cut the 5 1/4 x 8 inch Crumb Cake CS that has the score line at 4 inches. Using your Paper Trimmer place the 5 1/2 inch side on top with the left edge at 1 inch. Cut from 2 1/2 to 5 1/2 inches. Move the left edge to 2 1/2 and make the same cut.

Turn the Crumb Cake CS until the 8 inch side is on top. With the left edge at 2 1/2 inches make a score line between the cuts from 1 inch to 2 1/2 inches. Move the left edge to 5 1/2 inches and make another score line like the first. Now you can fold the card piece so that a little box pops out.

Flip the Crumb Cake card piece and place it inside the Cajun Craze CS card base to get an idea of what it will look like.

Cut the 1 x 3 inch Crumb Cake CS in half at 1 1/2 inches. Make a scoreline at 1 inch lengthwise. Trim the corners as shown. These will be the flaps for the box top. Adhere the box flaps.

Close the card piece after you adhere the box tops to ensure it will lie flat. If not, trim the corners of the flaps a little more.

Now for the stamping! Use the Memento black ink to stamp the images that will be colored with the Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Markers. Tip: The Memento does not bleed as much as the regular ink when colored with the alcohol marker. Stamp the milk can from the Country Home stamp set onto the bottom of the 3 1/2 x 4 3/4 inch Very Vanilla CS. Stamp the bunch of sunflowers from the Jar of Flowers stamp set above the milk can, and onto the 3 x 5 inch Very Vanilla CS. Tip: To get the best stamped image with the Photopolymer stamp, you can use the Stampin’ Pierce mat or a catalog underneath. I simply forgot to use one this time.

Use Early Espresso ink to stamp the sentiment “Happy Harvest Blessings” onto the 3/4 x 4 inch strip of Very Vanilla CS. Next stamp the sentiment “You are the happy to my day” onto the Crumb Cake insert to the right hand side of the box.

I included a lot of photos to show you how I go about coloring with the Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Markers. This is just one way to go. Feel free to color how you would like. For the sunflowers I used the light and dark version of the following colors: Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Just Jade, Shaded Spruce, Calypso Coral and Cinnamon Cider.

For the small flower, I first colored in with the Light Calypso Coral. Then I colored the Dark Calypso Coral around the edges followed by coloring with the Light Calypso Coral to blend the dark into the light.

For the sunflowers I found it easier to color in the Dark Daffodil Delight first, then add the Light Daffodil Delight.

I added some Light Mango Melody to accentuate the shadows on the petals behind the other petals. I realized I had forgotten the little buds on the right, so I colored them in with the Light and Dark Calypso Coral.

I colored the center of the sunflower with the Light Cinnamon Cider leaving a ring that was not colored in. Next I colored in the very center and added some shading with the Dark Cinnamon Cider. Lastly, I colored the ring with the Light Daffodil Delight.

To color the leaves I started with the Light Just Jade, then added in some shading with the Dark Just Jade, followed by more Light Just Jade to blend the dark in. Lastly, I colored the small leaf fronds with the Dark Shaded Spruce at the base of the leaf, then the Light Shaded Spruce to finish.

The milk can is colored with the Light and Dark versions of Smoky Slate and Gray Granite.

I started with the Dark Smoky Slate and shaded in the borders of the milk can. My goal was to make it appear more rounded. I colored the right side a little more heavily than the left. Next I blended in the Light Smoky Slate followed by the Light Gray Granite. Tip: For better results I have found it easier to use the fine tip first when trying to make the colors gradated .

I added a single coat of the Light Gray Granite with the brush tip to blend everything together. I colored more shading with the Dark Smoky Slate to enhance the darker edges. You may set this aside until later.

I repeated the coloring process for the other two sunflower stamped images.

To prepare the sunflowers to be adhered to the inside of the box, I first cut off the smaller buds and fern frond one image. Next I fussy cut both images. To make them easier to adhere, I added a little tab by adhering the Very Vanilla CS 1 x 1 1/2 inch strips to the back of the sunflowers.

I placed the sunflowers in the box, being mindful to keep the edges in the middle from crossing over the 4 inch score line on the Crumb Cake CS. Next I used the Scoring Tool to score the sunflowers in line with the outer edge of the box. I folded the sunflowers along the score line.

I adhered the Very Vanilla CS tab on the back of the sunflowers to the back of the Crumb Cake CS box, being sure to keep the folded edge in line with the outer edge of the box. Before the glue dried, I closed the Crumb Cake CS to be sure everything was lined up and the card would be able to close. I opened the Crumb Cake CS and applied glue to the folded portion of the sunflowers, then closed the Crumb Cake CS card piece again to smooth it out.

Things are going to get a little easier soon. To adhere the Crumb Cake CS card piece to the Cajun Craze CS card base, first lay the piece in the card and apply adhesive to one side. Close the card and rub firmly.

Open the card and apply adhesive to the other side. Close and rub firmly.

Yay! What an awesome pop-up card!

Adhere the milk can piece to the 3 3/4 x 5 inch Crumb Cake CS, then adhere that to the front of the Cajun Craze CS card base. Be sure to adhere it to the correct side! Ask me why I know this!

Add the sentiment “Happy harvest Blessings” with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Viola! You made it through! I know that was long. The card is really awesome though. I hope you take a chance and give it a try.

Thanks so much for patiently viewing my blog today. Every once in awhile I need a challenge.

Kylie’s Monthly International Blog Highlights Gallery- September 2020-Stampin’ Up!® Country Home Meets Jar of Flowers

Thank you for visiting Theresa’s Treasures. I am Theresa and I am a Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator in Arizona in the USA. Today I am taking part in an International Blog Highlight put on by Kylie Bertucci. There are thank you cards from all over the world. My thank you card was so much fun to make! I hope you enjoy it.

I am so in love with the Country Home stamp set. I have created several different scenes, but this is one of my favorites. The sunflower bouquet is actually from the Jar of Flowers stamp set.

I used the Masking Technique to make the stamped pitcher appear to be in front of the milk can. The milk can is colored with the Stampin’ Blend Alcohol Markers in the Light and Dark Smokey Slate and Gray Granite. The pitcher is colored with Light and Dark Balmy Blue and Midnight Muse, with some Light Night of Navy added for the shadows.

For the sunflower bouquet I used Light and Dark So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Pumpkin Pie, Calypso Coral, Cinnamon Cider, Shaded Spruce and Just Jade.

I used the Tin Tile Embossing Folder with Misty Moonlight card stock for the background. The scene is framed in Night of Navy card stock. The ribbons are the 1/4 inch Bumblebee Gingham and 1/4 inch Daffodil Delight Ruched.

Thank you so much for visiting! Please vote for me. Thank you!

Flowers For Every Season in Blues

The Flower For Every Season Suite is just so beautiful and fun to create cards with! The Suite includes 2 different stamp sets – Jar of Flowers and Celebrate Sunflowers. The Jar of Flowers coordinates with the Jar punch and the Mason Jar Dome. To see a card with all 3 of the Jar products, check my blog from May by clicking here.

Here is the card for today. The lovely Flowers for Every Season DSP is paired with the Jar of Flowers stamp to match! Let’s get started!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is IMG_20200601_105335-694x1024.jpg

Measurements: Whisper White Card Stock (CS): 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches scored at 4 1/4 inches and two 3 1/2 x 2 1/4 inches; Just Jade CS (New In Color!): 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 inches; Flowers For Every Season DSP: 5 1/4 x 4 inches.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is IMG_20200601_140024-785x1024.jpg

Stamp the “Happy Birthday” sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set in Shaded Spruce* ink onto one of the 3 1/2 x 2 1/4 inch Whisper White CS. Use the Timeless Label Punch to punch out the sentiment. (*I have used Shaded Spruce ink in this blog because the Just Jade ink was not available yet. The Just Jade ink can now be purchased and should be used in place of the Shaded Spruce.)

One really cool thing about the Jar of Flowers stamp set is that several pieces are reversible! First stamp the outline of the bowl in Balmy Blue ink onto the other 3 1/2 x 2 1/4 inch Whisper White CS. Flip the stamp over. Stamp the background color for the bowl in Balmy Blue by first Stamping Off on scrap paper, then on the card piece. That is so smart!

I used Smoky Slate ink to stamp the bunch of flowers after first Stamping Off onto the scrap paper. I used a sticky note as a Mask to shorten the flower stems. The stems are Stamped Off and stamped in Shaded Spruce ink.

I am going to use the Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Pencils to color the bunch of flowers. However, there is not a matching green Watercolor Pencil. I used a Blender Pen to add a light coloring of Shaded Spruce ink to the stems.

My goal was to try and match the coloring of the bunch of flowers to those flowers on the Flowers For Every Season DSP I had chosen for the card. I colored on top of my new catalog to keep the pencil pressure soft. The blue is the new In Color Misty Moonlight. To match the color with the Watercolor Pencils available I first colored the flowers lightly with the Basic Gray then with the Night Of Navy Watercolor Pencils.

I added some shading with a combination of a little more Basic Gray and a little more Night of Navy until I was satisfied. I used the Cajun Craze Watercolor Pencil for the larger flower, only coloring in the center of each petal.

To smooth out the Watercolor Pencil I went over the flowers with the Blender Pen.

The leaves were colored with the Blender Pen and the Shaded Spruce ink. The berries are colored in Melon Mambo Watercolor Pencil and the Pussy Willows are colored in Early Espresso Watercolor Pencil. Finally, I added some more shading to the center of the blue flowers with the Night of Navy Watercolor Pencil.

I added some “water” in the bowl with the Balmy Blue Watercolor Pencil.

Punch out a label from the Just Jade CS with the Timeless Label Punch. Set aside. Adhere the Just Jade CS to the front of the 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch Whisper White CS card base after you have used the Bone Folder to make a crisp fold at the 4 1/4 inch score line.

Adhere the Flowers for Every Season DSP to the Just Jade CS on the card front.

Adhere the Just Jade CS Timeless Label to the back of the sentiment label, slightly offset. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the watercolored bunch of flowers and the sentiment to the card front.

Add a bow tied from the Misty Moonlight In Color 1/4 inch Ribbon with a Glue Dot. I plan to make a new video on how to tie bows. I tried today, but it did not work out. Soon I hope.

Now for the Bling! The Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels are perfect as there are several colors to choose from. I added some light blue rhinestones to the blue flowers in the bunch of flowers, dark green around the sentiment and dark blue rhinestones on the Flowers For Every Season DSP. I love lots of Bling! There is more Bling to be had for this card!

Wink of Stella!! This glitter brush can add a light sparkle to your card! But how to start using it? It comes with a black ring between the two barrels. Remove the black ring and put the two barrels back together.

Squeeze the barrel where it says “PUSH” until a little glitter is seen. Brush onto a scrap paper to get the flow going and get a feel for how it works.

Brush the glitter onto the water until you like the sparkle!

And Viola! you have a lovely floral card to send to someone for their Birthday! You could also use a different sentiment for any occasion. This card would be great for a variety of occasions!

Thanks for being here today. I appreciate you!

Sneak Peek- Jar of Flowers

There is only one more week before the new 2020-2021 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog is live! Since I am an Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator I got to order for the catalog a month early. Here is a sneak peek at a new stamp set called Jar of Flowers!

The really fun part about this card is that there are Mason Jar Shaker domes and Flowers for Every Season Gems you can use to make a Shaker card! I will also show a Technique today using the Watercolor Pencils and the Blender Pen.

Measurements: Whisper White Card Stock (CS): 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches with a score line at 4 1/4 inches, 5 x 2 inches and 4 x 2 1/2 inches; Flowers For Every Season Designer Series Paper (DSP): 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 inches; and a new In Color – Magenta Madness: 5 3/8 x 2 1/4 inches.

Stamp the sentiment “Just Thinking Of You” from the Many Mates stamp set in Melon Mambo ink onto the bottom of the 4 x 2 1/2 inch Whisper White CS. Use the Timeless Label Punch to punch it out with the sentiment on one end. Put the punch as close to the words as you can.

Now insert the punched label back into the punch so the words are as close to the edge as possible.

Use the 1 1/2 inch Circle punch to punch a circle out of the 5 x 2 1/2 inch Magenta Madness CS. Be sure to leave a 1/4 inch border because you will be using this as part of your card. Adhere the sentiment punch to the circle punch. Trim the sides with your Paper Snips. Set aside.

Set up the 5 x 2 inch Whisper White CS on the Pierce Mat to be able to stamp with the Jar Of Flowers Photopolymer stamp set. I tried using Gray Granite ink but it was too light. I found if you use Smokey Slate ink and you Stamp Off on a scrap paper once before stamping on the card piece you get the right intensity of gray for using the Watercolor Pencils.

Stamp off onto the scrap paper once before stamping the stems and the bunch of flowers. The lid to the Mason jar is not Stamped Off.

I put the Flowers for Every Season DSP that I wanted for the background next to my jar of flowers so I could copy the coloring. I used colors from both sets of the Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Pencils. I started with Garden Green for the leaves and stems, Daffodil Delight for the little bunches of flowers, and Pumpkin Pie for the center of the Daffodil Delight flowers. I use a light touch first to color the entire image, then I press a little harder in spots where I would like to have the image shaded.

I used the Coastal Cabana Watercolor Pencil to create a water level in the jar. Next I used Real Red to color the poppies. Again, I used a light touch to color in the image and then press harder to shade. When I color lightly, I move the pencil in small circles and rotate the pencil every so often so that it stays sharp.

I used the Melon Mambo Watercolor Pencil to color the tulips and the Night of Navy to color the sprigs of small flowers.

Now for the fun part! I used the Blender Pen which is filled with a specialized solution for easy blending. The tulip I am pointing to has been treated with the Blender Pen and the other tulips have not. I have already used the Blender Pen on the water and stems. I use a light touch and start in the lighter colored area of the image, moving toward the shaded part. When you are done with one color, you simply write on a scrap of paper with the Blender Pen until it writes clear. Take your time with this. The Blender Pen smooths out the colored pencil.

Now I used the Jar of Flowers punch to punch the Mason Jar out. You will have the Mason jar, the bunch of flowers and need the Magenta Madness CS piece.

Do not adhere the bunch of flower piece. Just lay it on the Magenta Madness CS to help position the Mason Jar. Adhere the Mason Jar to the Magenta Madness CS.

Peel off the protective layer on the top of the Mason Jar Shaker Dome. Adhere the bunch of flowers piece to the top of the Mason Jar Shaker Dome. Take care to position the paper because the adhesive on the dome is very sticky and once the paper is on it, it will stay there!

Note to self: Leave at least a 1/4 inch under the stamped jar so that the Mason Jar Shaker Dome doesn’t stick out! Fortunately, it was easy to trim with the Paper Snips.

Adhere the 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 inch Flowers For Every Season DSP to the Whisper White CS card base. Then adhere the Magenta Madness piece to the left side of the card front. Now for some Bling! The Flowers For Every Season Gems include green faceted gems and epoxy drops.

Place a few of the gems and drops on the Mason Jar. Remove the protective layer from the back of the Mason Jar Shaker Dome. Apply some adhesive to the rest of the back of the bunch of flowers card piece. Adhere the Whisper White bunch of flowers piece to the Magenta Madness piece on the card front. Take care with placement as the Mason Jar Shaker Dome adhesive adheres quickly and doesn’t allow any “wiggle” room.

Adhere the sentiment “Just Thinking Of You” to the right side of the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. To make the card extra special you can add a strip of the Flowers For Every Season DSP to the inside of the card. (Measurement: 5 3/8 x 3/4 inches)

Add a bow with the 2020-2022 In Color Bumblebee 1/4 inch ribbon and adhere it to the card with a Mini Glue Dot. Viola! What a colorful and gorgeous card!

Thank you for enjoying the Sneak Peek today! I really enjoyed making the card. If you would like to purchase the products I used, you will be able to on June 3, 2020 after noon Mountain Time.
