This Little Piggy is Giving back! #Sharesunshine

Today’s card uses one of the sentiments in the Share Sunshine PDF Download.

The sentiment for today’s card is on page 11 of the digital download. I printed it on a sheet of Shimmery White Card stock(CS) and then cut it out with my Stampin’ Up! Paper Trimmer. I printed on the Shimmery White CS because I wanted to do some water-coloring. The Shimmery White CS holds up better with water-coloring than the Whisper White CS does.

Ok, let’s get started putting together This Little Piggy!

Measurements: Whisper White Card stock (CS): 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches with a score line at 4 1/4 inches and a 1/2 inch strip; Shimmery White CS: 3 1/2 x 2 1/4 inches; Pear Pizzazz CS: 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 inches and 3 3/4 x 2 1/2 inches; Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper (DSP): 5 1/4 x 4 inches.

I stamped the little piggy onto Petal Pink CS in Memento ink. I added a little shadow with the Dark Petal Pink Stampin’ Blend Alcohol Marker.

I made the little mask by cutting a rectangle from the 1/2 strip of Whisper White CS. I added stitching with the Stampin’ Write Marker in Basic Black.

I used the Take Your Pick Tool on the Pierce Mat to punch a little hole at the neckline in order to thread the “elastic” for the mask through it. For the “elastic” I used the White Solid Bakers Twine (which is retiring).

I used a Dental Floss threader to thread the Solid White Baker’s Twine through the hole. I secured it on the back of the pig with a Mini Glue Dot.

I pulled the Solid White Bakers Twine up, around and down to make an “X” over the piggy’s snout. I secured the end in place with the same Mini Glue Dot. Glue the mask in place over the “X”.

Squeeze the Balmy Blue ink pad in the middle by laying it upside down on the table and applying pressure to the middle of the pad. This should put ink on the inside of the lid. If not, you could use a drop of the Balmy Blue Re-inker. Use the Aqua Painter (Water Painters) to apply a layer of water onto the Shimmery White CS. Now put some ink on the Aqua Painter, and starting at the top, spread the ink down the paper going back and forth. If the ink is not dark enough, add more ink to the brush and go over the paper again. You may clean the Aqua Painter by squeezing water from it onto a paper towel. If the ink on your paper is too dark, just go over it with the Aqua Painter using plain water. Let dry completely. When dry, adhere the Shimmery White CS to the 3 3/4 x 2 1/2 inch Pear Pizzazz CS.

Adhere the Perennial Essence DSP to the 5 1/4 x 4 inch Pear Pizzazz CS. Use the Bone Folder to make a crisp fold at the 4 1/4 inch score line on the 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch Whisper White CS, then adhere the piece to the front of the Whisper White card base.

Use the Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the watercolor card piece and the little piggy. I used 1/2 of a Stampin’ Dimensional on each end of the “i miss your face” sentiment and used glue on the center to adhere it in place.

And Viola! you have a COVID-19 “situation-appropriate” card to #Sharesunshine with someone! Please consider purchasing the PDF Digital Download here: https://covid19.stampinup.com/products/giving-back-us-ca

This is Knot Good

The state of the world is “knot” good. All I can do at this point is keep being creative to stay positive and pray that all will be well soon.

This little Get Well card is made with the Back on Your Feet stamp set by Stampin’ Up!® It’s good to add a little humor when the situation is not the best. I do hope that all of you are safe and well, and that your families are well too.

Measurements: Whisper White cardstock (CS): 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches with a score at 4 1/4 inches, 5 1/4 x 4 inches and 4 x 2 1/2 inches; Crushed Curry CS: 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 inches and 4 1/4 x 2 3/4 inches; Soft Suede CS: 5 1/8 x 3 7/8 inches. You will also need a 9 x 1/4 inch strip of the Birthday Bonanza Designer Series paper (DSP) -not shown.

Stamp the giraffe and the sentiment “This is knot good” onto the 4 x 2 1/2 inch Whisper White CS with black Memento ink.

I used a stamp from the Gallery Grunge stamp set to make the background. Stamp the image in Soft Suede ink. Gallery Grunge is a great stamp set to have on hand as you can make many different backgrounds.

Color the giraffe with the Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker. One of the wonderful benefits of Stampin’ Up! is that the paper, ink, markers, ribbon, etc all match!

Color the giraffe’s spots with the Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker. Use the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker for the hooves.

Finish the giraffe with a little Petal Pink in the ears and Old Olive for the grass.

Use the Bone Folder to make a crisp fold on the 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch Whisper White CS at the 4 1/4 inch score to make the card base. Adhere the 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 inch Crushed Curry CS to the front of the card base.

Adhere the Soft Suede piece to the Crushed Curry piece on the card front.

Adhere the giraffe to the 4 1/4 x 2 3/4 inch Crushed Curry CS. Adhere the whole piece to the Soft Suede CS on the card front.

Cut two 2 inch strips from the 9 1/4 x 1/4 inch Birthday Bonanza DSP. Apply to the card front so they look like strips of tape, like on a scrapbook page.

I decided to make the inside of the card with a sentiment. I used Whisper White CS 5 1/4 x 4 inches and stamped the sentiment in Memento ink.

Adhere a 5 1/4 x 1/4 inch strip of the Birthday Bonanza DSP to the left side of the insert. Then adhere it to the inside of the card.

And Viola! You have a slightly humorous card to let someone who is having a hard time know that you are there for them.

The stamp set has a few other animals and sentiments, so I made a set.

I hope you enjoyed that card. I am very thankful you stopped by.

Cake is the Answer!

Today is a very gloomy day outside and we are supposed to get a big snow storm. To top it off I have caught a sinus cold and I feel miserable. Good thing there is card making to be done to take my mind off of everything! When I get to making and creating cards, the time just flies by and I feel exhilarated!

Today is the first in a series of three cards made with Stampin’Up!’s Piece of Cake stamp set. Today’s card is very easy and simple to make.

This is the stamp set I will be using. There are many possibilities for the cake and the occasion. We will be making the card above as well as a birthday card and a wedding card in the next blog posts.

Measurements: Whisper White card base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches folded at 4 1/4 inches, Flirty Flamingo 4 1/2 x 1 inches, Whisper White 3 x 3 inches and 4 1/2 x 3/4 inches.

I will also be using Memento ink, and the Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers in Light Flirty Flamingo, Dark Flirty Flamingo and Light Mango Melody (not pictured) .

The first step is to lay the sentiment on the strip of Whisper White to be able to get the sentence straight. Once you have it straight, press the clear block over the Photopolymer stamp to adhere it. Now use the Memento ink and stamp the sentiment to the right side of the Whisper White strip. Tip: Always use the Stampin’ Pierce Mat with the Photopolymer stamps to get the best image.

Using the Memento ink, stamp the cake and the platter onto the 3 x 3 inch piece of Whisper White.

There is a Cake Builder punch but it will not be available to order again until March 18, 2019. It was overwhelmingly popular. So we are going to fussy cut the platter and cake with the Paper Snips. Leave a 2-3 mm border around the outside line of the image.

Use the Light Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blend alcohol marker to color the stripes and the smaller circles.

Use the Dark Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blend alcohol marker to color the larger circles and the layers.

Place the strip of Flirty Flamingo on the card just below half-way. Hold the cake in place and use a pencil to draw a light line where the top of the cake is.

Use the Memento ink to stamp the candles just at the pencil mark.

Use the Dark Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blend alcohol marker to color the candles.

Use the Light Mango Melody Stampin’ Blend alcohol marker to color the flames.

Adhere the sentiment strip to the Flirty Flamingo strip.

Adhere the strip about 1/4 inches below the candles.

Use the Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of the cake and the platter.

Adhere the cake then the platter.

That was a quick and easy card that I hope you will enjoy making. It is a wonderful card to send when wanting to just send a hello or quick note and is sure to put a smile on the recipients face!

In the next post we will be making a Birthday card, so I hope you will join me!
