Happy Thanksgiving!

I wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving today! This year is a little different for sure! I hope you are able to visit virtually with your friends and family. My family is getting together on Zoom. We are quite the crowd as I am the oldest of eight!

I made this card for the Cardz4guyz Challenge # 258- Thank You/Thanksgiving. I just love the Cajun Craze card stock from Stampin’ Up!® for my fall projects. The Forever Gold Laser-cut Specialty Paper just looks so handsome next to the Cajun Craze card stock.

The wreath is made using the Gold Hoop Embellishment with some of the Forever Gold Laser-cut leaves for the background. The Very Vanilla foiled leaves are cut from the Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper. The Gold Twine from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack compliments the copper Acorn Trinkets. The sentiment is from a retired Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Pleasant Pheasants and is stamped in Cajun Craze ink.

Please have a nice day of Thanks. Remember to be thankful for all the joy you bring to the world. You are a very special and unique person.

Have a most wonderful day and a crafty week! Stop by Cardz4guyz.blogspot.com and see everyone’s cards for Challenge #258-Thank You/Thanksgiving.

Stamping on Designer Series Paper with Forever Fern Wishing You Happiness

These beautiful colorful cards are so easy to make! The leaves come from the Forever Fern stamp set and the sentiments are from So Sentimental. Both of these sets are so versatile. The So Sentimental has several great sentiments in addition to those in the photo, including “hello baby”, “healing hugs”, “for you”, and “this calls for confetti”.

Here is the card I will demonstrate today. The colors are Magenta Madness, Rich Razzleberry, Blackberry Bliss and Balmy Blue.

Measurements: Rich Razzleberry Card Stock (CS) card base: 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches with a score line at 4 1/4 inches: Whisper White CS: 4 x 5 1/4 inches and 2 1/2 x 3 inches; Artistry Blooms Designer Series Paper (DSP): 4 x 5 1/4 inches; and Balmy Blue CS: 2 5/8 x 3 1/8 inches.

Stamp the sentiment “Wishing you much happiness today and always” from the So Sentimental stamp set in Blackberry Bliss ink onto the 2 1/2 x 3 inch Whisper White CS. Then use the Blackberry Bliss ink and the largest bunch of leaves from the Forever Fern stamp set and stamp the leaves to frame the sentiment. Be sure to use a scrap paper underneath so you don’t stamp on your table! Our nickname for Blackberry Bliss is Blackberry Mess!

Next use the Balmy Blue ink to stamp a smaller bunch of flowers on the upper left corner, and the Magenta Madness ink to stamp the berry design on the lower right corner of the sentiment. This creates a little frame around the sentiment.

Use the Blackberry Bliss ink and the larger bunch of leaves to stamp onto the Artistry Blooms DSP. I tried to visualize where the sentiment will be and use that as a focal point for the end of the stems.

Next use the Magenta Madness ink to stamp the berry design, and the Balmy Blue ink to stamp the smaller bunch of leaves. I continued to use the focal point for the ends of the stems. On some I turned the stamp around and stamped with the stem off the edge of the paper to fill in the blank spots.

I wanted to make the inside a little more fancy. I started on the top of the 4 x 5 1/4 inch Whisper White CS with the Blackberry Bliss ink and the large bunch of leaves, and worked down the right side. I used the Balmy Blue ink with the small bunch of leaves and then the Magenta Madness with the berry design on the bottom.

Adhere the stamped Whisper White CS panel to the inside of the 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inch Rich Razzleberry CS card base. Use you Bone Folder to fold the card base at the 4 1/4 inch score line so you get a nice crisp fold.

Adhere the stamped sentiment card piece to the 2 5/8 x 3 1/8 inch Balmy Blue CS. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals or the new Foam Adhesive Sheets on the back. Tip: If you have arthritis in you fingers, I have found that cutting the Adhesive Sheets into 1/4 inch strips is much easier to use than the little hexagonal Stampin’ Dimensionals. I just have a hard time peeling of the backs of those hexagons!

Adhere the stamped DSP to the front of the Rich Razzleberry card base, then add the sentiment card piece to the middle of the front.

And now for some Bling! I am so in love with the Artistry Blooms Self Adhesive Sequins Pack because there are 4 colors with 2 different sizes! They go with just about everything! To easily transfer the sequin I use the Take Your Pick tool. I slide the pointed end under the adhesive on the back of the sequin and than just set it down where I want it, apply a little pressure, and it sticks in place.

Viola! You have stamped on Designer Series Paper to make a wonderful, colorful card to wish some happiness to someone!

I really appreciate that you stopped by today. I hope you enjoyed the card and will give it a try. Experiment with different papers and stamps to see what you like. There are so many possiblities!

Positive Thoughts with Comfort and Hope

There are so many beautiful stamp sets in the new 2020-2021 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog! There is a style for everyone. I love to make cards with a grunge style. The Comfort and Hope and the Positive Thoughts stamp sets are a perfect combination for this style.

This card is designed with elements from both of the stamp sets. The colors are: Misty Moonlight, Just Jade and Cinnamon Cider. These are 3 of the new 2020-2022 In Colors. The In Colors are a set of 5 colors that are only available for 2 years. Every year, one set retires and one set debuts. The other 2 In Colors for the next 2 years are Magenta Madness and Bumble Bee.

Measurements: Cinnamon Cider Card Stock (CS): 11 x 4 1/4 inches with a score line at 5 1/2 inches; Very Vanilla CS: two 5 1/4 x 4 inches and one 4 x 2 inches.

Using the Cinnamon Cider ink, stamp the cross hatched image from Comfort And Hope onto both 5 1/4 x 4 inch Very Vanilla CS pieces. The image near the edge is at full strength. Without applying any more ink, stamp again just above the full strength image. On the bottom piece, stamp a third time without adding any ink. This is know as the Stamping Off Technique. I use this technique a lot when stamping in the grunge style.

On the 5 1/4 x 4 inch Very Vanilla panel for the outside of the card, add the sentiment “Hugs Prayers Love” in Cinnamon Cider ink. The little design has been Stamped Off onto the scratch paper before stamping on the card. Both of these images are in the Positive Thoughts stamp set.

The leaf branch from the Positive Thoughts stamp set is Stamped Off each time in Just Jade ink.

The roll of twine from the Positive Thoughts stamp set is stamped at full strength in the middle, then Stamped Off two times.

The large branch of leaves is Stamped Off once on scrap paper, then on to the inside panel.

Using the Misty Moonlight ink, stamp the butterfly from the Positive Thoughts stamp set once at full strength on the inside panel. Stamp three full strength images on the 4 x 2 inch Very Vanilla CS.

Fussy cut the three butterflies, or use the butterfly die on a die cutting machine. Now use the Bone Folder to curve the wings of each butterfly.

Apply one half of a Stampin’ Dimensional to the middle of the back of each butterfly.

Use your Bone Folder to fold the 11 x 4 1/4 inch Cinnamon Cider CS at the 5 1/2 inch score line. Adhere the outside panel onto the front of the card base, and then the inside panel inside.

I found it easier to space the butterflies evenly if I adhered the top butterfly near the sentiment first, then the butterfly in the bottom corner, and finally the middle butterfly.

Now for the Bling! What is grunge without some sparkle?!

I placed the Champagne Basic Rhinestones with the Take Your Pick tool.

I applied Wink of Stella to the butterflies. See how sparkly they are now! Don’t forget to add Wink of Stella to the butterfly on the inside panel.

And Viola! You have a sparkly grunge card! I really like the sentiment “Hugs Prayers Love” because it is very versatile.

I am so grateful you came by today! This card is just so fun to make! I hope you give the grunge style a try.

Adventure Awaits with this Fun Fold Card

Happy Friday! Today I have a Fun Fold card for you using the World of Good Suite in the new 2020-2021 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. The stamp set is Beautiful World. This card can be a wonderful masculine card.

A great part of this card is that it highlights the World of Good Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP). This paper has travel patterns- some accented with brass foil!

The Adventure Awaits Fun fold card opens like the top of a cardboard box. All of the flaps end up being tucked in behind the 2 1/4 inch Brass Foil Circle.

Measurements: Misty Moonlight Card Stock (CS): 8 1/2 x 11 inches for the card base, and 4 x 2 1/4 inches: Very Vanilla CS: 5 1/4 x 4 inches and 4 x 2 inches; Brass Foil Sheet: 4 x 2 1/2 inches; and the World of Good Specialty DSP in 4 different designs: 2 5/8 x 1 7/8 inches each.

Use the Simply Scored scoring board to make the card base. Place the 8 1/2 x 11 inch Misty Moonlight CS with the 8 1/2 inch side on top. Use the Simply Scored Stylus to score at 2 1/8 and at 6 3/8 inches.

Turn the Misty Moonlight CS and score the 11 inch side at 2 3/4 and 8 1/4 inches.

Cut along the scorelines to cut off the four corner pieces.

Using the corner punch on the Detailed Trio Punch, round all of the corners.

Use the Bone Folder to make a crisp fold on all the scorelines. Check to see that the opposite flaps meet in the middle. Now fold the four flaps as you would fold the top of a cardboard box.

Using a non-permanent adhesive, place the World of Good Specialty DSP pieces on the card as you would like them to be. Open the card and flip over. This will allow you to see which corner of the DSP needs to be rounded with the corner punch.

Use the Detailed Trio Punch to round the appropriate corners on the DSP. Adhere the DSP pieces to the card base with a permanent adhesive. Fold the card back up to be sure all looks well.

In Misty Moonlight ink, stamp the sentiment “Life’s a beautiful journey” followed by the sentiment “Congratulations on this new beginning” onto the 5 1/4 x 4 inch Very Vanilla CS. Stamp the ink bottle and the little squiggle. On the 4 x 2 1/4 inch Very Vanilla CS stamp the globe on one end allowing space around it so you can punch it out. Now stamp the sentiment “Adventure Awaits” on the other end.

The compass and feather are stamped in Cinnamon Cider ink.

Punch the globe out with the 1 3/4 inch Circle Punch. Fussy cut the “Adventure Awaits”. Note: I didn’t realize that the 1 3/4 inch Circle Punch is retired. I recommend fussy cutting the globe because the next size, the 1 1/2 inch Circle Punch, cuts off too much of the image.

Use the 2 1/4 inch Circle Punch to cut out a circle from the Brass Foil. Tip: When punching the foil, I get a better results if I punch it out with the punch on the table, and the foil side facing towards the table.

Use the 2 inch Circle Punch to punch a circle from the 4 x 2 1/4 inch Misty Moonlight CS. Adhere the Misty Moonlight circle to the Brass Foil circle, then adhere the globe to the Misty Moonlight circle.

Lay the globe piece slightly above and to the left of center- to make it easier to open the flaps than if it is in the center. Adhere the sentiment “Adventure Awaits” to the card front. Tip: I use tweezers when I want to position something small that cannot easily be held by hand, so that it is straight.

Use a pencil to mark the edge of the globe piece. Apply Stampin’ Dimensionals just to that flap.

Adhere the globe to the card front.

Open the card up and adhere the inside piece.

Viola! The Adventure Awaits Fun Fold Card is completed and ready to send to someone! The new adventure could be many different occasions including: a new job, starting college, traveling, marriage, or retirement. This also makes a great masculine card.

Thank you for coming by and viewing my blog. I appreciate you very much. Please leave a comment if you like the card and whether or not you like the Fun Fold Cards in general. Please let me know how I am doing.

Forever Greenery in Blue- SIP Series #3

This is the third in a series of cards made with stamps, ink and paper- SIP cards. For this card, I made it a little more advanced by adding a Circle Punch, a couple of techniques, Stampin’ Dimensionals and lots of Bling!

This is still a very simple card to make if you just take it step by step, so I included lots of photos. The card looks more difficult than it is. The stamp set is Forever Fern by Stampin’ Up! and is part of the Forever Greenery Suite in the new 2020-2021 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. The images make it fun and easy to create elegant cards!

Measurements: Whisper White Card Stock (CS): 11 x 4 1/4 inches with a score line at 5 1/2 inches, 5 x 3 3/4 inches and 2 1/4 x 4 inches; and Misty Moonlight CS: 5 1/4 x 4 inches.

Using the Misty Moonlight ink, stamp the sentiment from the Forever Fern stamp set onto the 2 1/4 x 4 inch Whisper White CS.

Use the 1 1/2 inch Circle Punch to punch out the sentiment. Now use the punched out piece to draw a circle on the 5 x 3 3/4 inch Whisper White CS. This will be the focal point for stamping the leaves.

Using the Seaside Spray ink, stamp the largest bunch of leaves in the Forever Fern stamp set at 12 o’clock at full strength, and without adding any ink, stamp again at 4 o’clock. This is called Stamping Off. Using the Seaside Spray ink again, stamp the medium sized branch of leaves at full strength a 5 o’clock.

Stamp the long thin leaf branch in Misty Moonlight ink full strength at 1 o’clock and Stamped Off at 11 o’clock. Be mindful of where the end of the stem is. Ideally the end should stay within the pencil marked circle.

The berry type leaves are stamped in Pretty Peacock ink as shown.

One of the most fun stamps in the set is the splatter. There are so many possibilities with the splatter. For this card, I used the Seaside Spray ink and stamped full strength on some and Stamped Off on other images around the focal point.

I wanted to make this a little more interesting. I decided to use the Sponging Technique on both card pieces.

The Sponging Technique adds a darker edge to the card piece. I cut the Stampin’ Sponges into smaller pieces and label them with the color of ink. For more on how to prepare the Stampin’ Sponges click HERE. Using the Misty Moonlight ink, dab the sponge onto the ink pad. Gently rub the sponge on the edge of the card piece in a back and forth motion.

Do the same to sponge Misty Moonlight ink on the 5 x 3 3/4 inch card piece.

Adhere the sponged 5 x 3 3/4 inch card piece to the 5 1/4 x 4 inch Misty Moonlight CS. Use an eraser to erase the circle. Adhere the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Use the Bone Folder to fold the 11 x 4 1/4 inch Whisper White CS at the 5 1/2 inch score line. Adhere the completed card piece to the front of the Whisper White card base.

The Artistry Blooms Self-Adhesive Sequins are the perfect color to add some Bling! to this card. Use the Take Your Pick tool to easily transfer the sequins to your card.

Viola! You have a great card to send off “to a friend who makes you smile”.

Thank you for coming by today and seeing how easy it is to make this elegant card. The Forever Fern stamp set is very versatile. Check out the previous two blogs to see two other cards made from this set.

Forever Greenery in Blue- SIP Series #2

This is the second in the SIP series. SIP stands for stamps, ink and paper. The three cards in the series are made primarily from SIP-but with a little Bling! added at the end. The Forever Fern stamp set is part of the Forever Greenery Suite in the New 2020-2021 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.

Here are the three cards in the SIP Series. The previous blog is for the card lying down with the sentiment “Love and Laughter Forever After” on it. You can see that card by clicking HERE.

Here is today’s card. This is my “Stamp it, Cut it, and Paste It” card. This great card is really very straightforward to make. The stamping pattern of the leaves is nearly identical to SIP card #1 in the previous blog.

Measurements: Whisper White Card Stock (CS): 11 x 4 1/4 inches with a score line at 5 1/2 inches and 5 x 3 3/4 inches; Misty Moonlight CS: 5 1/4 x 4 inches.

The first step is to cut 1/4 inch off the top of the 5 x 3 3/4 inch Whisper White CS.

Next stamp in Misty Moonlight ink the largest bunch of leaves in the Forever Fern stamp set. Before you put more ink on the stamp, stamp it in the upper right hand corner. This is a different version of the Stamping Off Technique using both the full strength and the Stamped Off image on the same card.

Using the Pretty Peacock ink, stamp once on the lower part of the card next to the first image. Stamp once under the first stamp in the right hand corner, then once above the first stamp.

Stamp the smaller bunch of leaves in Seaside Spray ink using the Stamping Off Technique.

Now that we have “Stamped It” we can “Cut it”. Cut 1 1/2 inches off the top and off the bottom.

Now we can add the sentiment “Hello” in Misty Moonlight ink.

I found it to be the most easy to have everything spaced evenly if I “Pasted it” by putting the bottom panel on first, followed by the top panel, then the center panel.

Fold the 11 x 4 1/4 inch Whisper White CS at the 5 1/2 inch score line and use the Bone Folder to get a crisp fold. Adhere this panel onto front of the Whisper White card base. You could leave the card just as it is, or you could add some Bling!

The Bling! or embellishment I chose for this card is the Artistry Blooms Self-Adhesive Sequins. They come in a rainbow of colors, of which the blue matches this card.

Tip: Transfer the self-adhesive sequins from the acetate sheet to the card with the Take Your Pick tool. Just slide the pick under the adhesive and move it to where you want it on the card. Apply light pressure on the sequin and remove the pick.

And Viola! you have made an elegant “Hello” card! Great to send to new or old friend to just say “Hello”.

Thanks for coming by and looking at my card. I really love how fast and simple it is to make elegant cards with the Forever Fern stamp set. I have also made some cards with greens, pinks and purples. It is a very versatile stamp set!

Forever Greenery in Blue-SIP Series #1

What is a SIP series? SIP stands for stamps, ink and paper. The next three cards I am going to show on my blog will primarily be made with just SIP (and a little Bling! of course).

These are the three cards I will show over the next few blogs. I am using the Forever Fern stamp set (part of the Forever Greenery Suite) and three ink colors: Misty Moonlight, Pretty Peacock and Seaside Spray.

You will be so surprised at how simple this card is to make!

Measurements: Whisper White Card Stock (CS): 11 x 4 1/4 inches with a score line at 5 1/2 inches and 5 x 3 3/4 inches; Misty Moonlight CS: 5 1/4 x 4 inches.

On the 5 x 3 3/4 inch Whisper White CS and using the largest stamp of the leaves in the Forever Fern Stamp Set, stamp with the Misty Moonlight ink once at full strength on the bottom left corner. Do not add any ink to the stamp and stamp again in the upper right hand corner, turning the stamp. This is another way of Stamping Off where you stamp both the full strength and the stamped off images on the card.

Stamp the next 3 images with the Pretty Peacock ink. The bottom left hand corner is stamped at full strength. The top upper right hand corner stamp is at full strength, and the lower image is the Stamped Off image.

Now use the small bunch of leaves with the Seaside Spray ink. Stamp at full strength on the top left hand corner, followed by a Stamped Off image right above it. Stamp another full strength image on the bottom of the left hand corner.

Stamp the sentiment “love and laughter FOREVER AFTER” in Misty Moonlight ink. Note: I have tried stamping the sentiment before stamping all the leaves as well. Either way works. Just see which way works well for you.

Use the Bone Folder to fold the 11 x 4 1/4 inch Whisper White CS at the 5 1/2 inch score line. Adhere the 5 1/4 x 4 inch Misty Moonlight CS to the front of the Whisper White card base. Now adhere the stamped 5 x 3 3/4 inch piece. You may certainly stop here as this is a very nice elegant card. However, if you are like me this card needs a little Bling!

In the New 2020-2021 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog there are many new choices for embellishments (Bling!) on pages 156-158. These are part of the Artistry Blooms Adhesive-backed Sequins. They match perfectly!

I find it to be very easy to move the sequins from the acetate to the card with the Take Your Pick tool. I just slide the pick under the adhesive on the sequin and move it to the card. Easy as that!

And Viola! you have a nice elegant card with Bling! You can change up the sentiment to be anything from “Happy Birthday” to “Get Well” to “With Sympathy”. It makes for a very versatile card.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you try the Forever Fern stamp set with your favorite colors. I have also played around with purples and pinks. It is very easy to make very elegant looking cards!

Do you want a FREE bundle? There is a joining special until June 30, 2020! When you sign up as a Stampin’ Up! A lot of us spend a lot of our time working in jobs that we may not like. The easy solution is to change to a job we do like. But that is not always possible. One way to “survive” your job is to “Start with Art”. Being creative is known to help improve your psychological well being. This Stampin’ Up! stamp set is retiring soon, so don’t waste any more time and let’s create a card to help you “Follow Your Art” no matter what your art may be!

This card is so fun because of all the color and the mixed designs! There are also a few Techniques thrown in there as well!

Here is the It Starts with Art stamp set. There are many exciting images to make a host of cards. I decided to use the stack of ribbon since it complimented the Follow Your Art Designer Series Paper (DSP) that I chose.

Measurements: Blueberry Bushel card stock (CS): 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches and 4 x 3 inches; Follow Your Art DSP: 5 1/4 x 4 inches and 4 x 3 inches; Coastal Cabana CS: 8 1/2 x 3 1/4 inches with a score line at 4 1/4 inches and Whisper White CS: two 4 x 3 inch pieces.

Let’s get stamping!

Stamp the sentiment “Follow your art” on one end of one 4 x 3 inch Whisper White CS in Memento ink. Leave space around the sentiment for the Tailored Tag Punch. Flip the Whisper White CS around and stamp the stack of spools on the opposite end.

For coloring the spools of ribbon, I did a bit of experimentation with markers and decided the Watercolor Pencils created the most appealing look. When I used the markers, I did not like the card. I actually thought it was ugly! The Watercolor Pencils made the card look so much better! I did use the Blushing Bride Stampin’ Write marker since there is not a Watercolor Pencil in Blushing Bride. The colors for the Watercolor Pencils are Pacific Point, Calypso Coral and Coastal Cabana. One of the Techniques is to use the Blender Pen.

I started coloring with the Blushing Bride Stampin’ Write marker on the middle spool. I tried to only put one layer of ink down and keep the color light.

I colored the top spool and the stripes on the bottom ribbon with the Coastal Cabana Watercolor Pencil. I did color a little darker in areas where I wanted a slight shadow.

I colored the middle ribbon with the Pacific Point Watercolor Pencil. The bottom spool and the ribbon on top are colored in Calypso Coral Watercolor Pencil.

Blending Technique The Blender Pen is a dual tipped pen filled with a specialized solution for easy blending. You just go over the Watercolor Pencil with a light touch and blend the color. To clean off the color, you just write on scrap paper until the fluid from the pen runs clear. I started Blending the Coastal Cabana Watercolor Pencil first.

Next I blended the Pacific Point Watercolor Pencil, and finally the Calypso Coral.

Now we need to fussy cut the spools of ribbon.

Tip: To fussy cut into really tight space, use the very tip of your Paper Snips and make very tiny cuts. I did try just leaving the center of the heart uncut, but I did not like the way it looked. Set this piece aside.

Punch the sentiment out with the Tailored Tag Punch. (I had to photograph this card twice because I did use the Stampin’ Write Markers initially. That is why the spools of ribbon are still there).

Prepare to use the Aqua Painter by squeezing the closed Blueberry Bushel ink pad to get a little ink on the lid. Add a few drops of water to the ink. Place the sentiment card piece on scrap paper as this technique can be a little messy. The black cardstock is just there so the sentiment card piece would show on the photograph.

Splatter Technique Flick the tip of the Aqua Painter on the lid to splatter the color onto the sentiment card piece. Clean the Aqua Painter by squeezing water out onto a paper towel until the water runs clear.

Squeeze the Calypso Coral ink pad and get some ink on the Aqua Painter. Flick the Calypso Coral ink in the same way as the Blueberry Bushel. Allow to dry, or use your Heat Tool to dry the ink more quickly.

Punch a label with the Tailored Tag Punch from the 4 x 3 inch Blueberry Bushel CS. Use the Paper Snips to cut the tag in half lengthwise.

Glue one half of the Tailored Tag Punch to the bottom half of the sentiment card piece. Now glue the other half on top.

Now to stamp the inside of the card. Use the larger button stamp to stamp onto the second 4 x 3 inch Whisper White using the Blueberry Bushel ink. Remember that an odd number of images seems more pleasing to the eye than an even number.

Use the smaller button stamp to stamp in Calypso Coral ink and Coastal Cabana ink.

Fold the 8 1/2 x 3 1/4 inch Coastal Cabana CS at the 4 1/4 inch score line. Use the Bone Folder to get a nice crisp fold.

Adhere the 4 x 3 inch Follow Your Art DSP to the front of the little card. Adhere the piece stamped with the buttons to the inside of the little card.

Adhere the 5 1/4 x 4 inch Follow Your Art DSP to the 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inch Blueberry Bushel CS. Now adhere the little card to the center of the Blueberry Bushel card piece.

This card is a little different. Fun, fun, fun!

We will use Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of the sentiment and the spools of ribbon.

I decided that the sentiment did not show up as much as I would like. I stamped the sentiment onto a scrap of 1/2 inch Whisper White CS. I placed it onto the sentiment piece to size it and then adhered it in place.

Adhere the spools of ribbon in place.

Viola! You have a card to keep around to help inspire you to “Follow Your Art”! Or you can send it off to someone else who may need encouragement!

Thanks so much for coming by today! I hope you are doing well, and if not, I hope you have an opportunity to try to start with art to lift up your spirits!

2018-2020 In Colors to Fly Away Soon!

This is the last chance you will have to order anything with the following colors: Lovely Lipstick, Grapefruit Grove, Pineapple Punch, Call Me Clover and Blueberry Bushel. These colors are retiring soon. As a tribute, I decided to make some butterfly cards to send these colors off. We will be getting 5 new colors for 2020-2022 but we don’t know what they will be yet! I personally love these nice basic colors and will miss them.

This is a great technique and is quite easy to do.

I will make the Grapefruit Grove card today. The stamp set is Butterfly Gala.

Measurements: Whisper White Cardstock (CS): 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches with a score line at 4 1/4 inches for the card base and 5 1/4 x 4 inches, 4 3/8 x 3 1/8 inches and 3 3/8 x 2 1/8 inches for the layers; Grapefruit Grove CS: 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 inches, 4 1/2 x 3 1/4 inches and 3 1/2 x 2 1/4 inches for the layers and 4 x 2 1/2 inches for the Butterfly to punch out.

The first step is to stamp the butterflies onto the bottom of the 4 x 2 1/2 inch Grapefruit Grove cardstock. I used Terracotta Tile ink to make a darker image, but you could use the Grapefruit Grove ink just as well. Be sure to use your Stampin’ Pierce mat since these are Photopolymer stamps.

Punch the butterflies out with the coordinating Butterfly Duet punch and set aside.

This next step is a little scary. I am going to cut my stamp! If you are careful to make a straight cut, you can piece it back together and use it again in the proper position for the punch again.

Do not trim the uneven edges because you will not be able to piece it back together if you do.

Stack the 3 layers of Whisper White CS by applying a wee bit of repositionable or non-permanent adhesive to the backs of the 1st and 2nd layers.

Stamp the sentiment “a little note” in Grapefruit Grove ink onto the top layer of the Whisper White CS. Position the punched out butterflies and a small bow tied from the 1/8 inch Grosgrain Ribbon in Grapefruit Grove. This will help you stamp the butterflies in a complimentary pattern.

Begin stamping the larger butterfly. Consider that you will want to stamp a smaller butterfly in between the larger butterflies when you choose where to stamp the larger butterfly.

Stamp the smaller butterfly to fill in the spaces.

Separate the layers of Whisper White CS and adhere them to the corresponding layer of Grapefruit Grove CS.

Use the Bone Folder to make a nice crisp fold at the 4 1/4 inch score line on the Whisper White CS card base. Adhere the first layer to the front of the Whisper White card base.

Adhere the next two layers taking care to line up the outlines of the butterflies.

Oops! I forgot the bodies of the butterflies! Stamp the bodies of the butterflies in Terracotta Tile ink.

I used the Bone Folder to gently curl the wings of the butterflies to give them some dimension.

Use Mini Glue Dots to adhere the two butterflies and the bow to the card front.

Viola! You have just made a really cool and interesting card!
