Thankful for Fun Techniques

“It is not happy people who are thankful. It is thankful people that are happy”-Unknown

Whenever I start feeling down or blue I try to remember to think of something I am thankful for. Fortunately I have 4 healthy and successful children, a loving husband and many friends who I am thankful for on a daily basis. I have been truly blessed. The card today was made to express this thankfulness.

I won this Stampin’ Up! stamp set by completing a challenge my friend put out. At first, I didn’t really think much of this set. But after creating this card, and a few more, I began to really like the images.

Measurements: Whisper White 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches scored at 4 1/4 inches, 3 3/4 x 2 1/4 inches and a 2 1/2 x 1/2 inch strip; Crumb Cake 5 1/4 x 4 inches; Terracotta Tile 4 x 2 1/2 inches.

I am going to share with you today a really fun technique. You will need Daffodil Delight and Cajun Craze Stampin’ Up! ink. We will be using the image with the leaves.

Stamp with the Daffodil Delight and then lay the block on the table with the stamp facing up.

Using a sponge dauber, daub it onto the Cajun Craze ink.

Daub the Cajun Craze ink onto the stamp in patches.

Now stamp the image onto the 3 3/4 x 2 1/4 inch piece of Whisper White card stock toward the top of the paper. Isn’t that so cool! I just love how the different colors make the leaves look!

Stamp the tree trunk in Soft Suede ink.

Stamp the pot in Terracotta Tile ink.

Use the Terracotta Tile ink to stamp the sentiment “So Thankful” onto the 2 1/2 x 1/2 inch strip of Whisper White cardstock.

Clean the leaves image well and use the Crumb Cake ink to stamp leaves all over the 5 1/4 x 4 inch piece of Crumb Cake card stock.

Cover the whole piece of card stock with the leaves.

Use the bone folder to fold the 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch piece of Whisper White card stock at the 4 1/4 inch scoreline.

Adhere the Crumb Cake card stock piece to the card front.

Adhere the stamped image to the 4 x 2 1/2 inch piece of Terracotta Tile card stock.

Apply Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the stamped image piece. I cut my Dimensionals in half so they will last longer. It still seems to elevate the piece just as if you had used a whole Dimensional.

Apply the stamped image piece to the card front, slightly to the left of center.

Cut a banner end onto both ends of the sentiment piece.

Adhere a Stampin’ Dimensional to the right hand side of the sentiment, behind the end of the “Thankful” .

Adhere the sentiment to the card front.

Now for some bling! I just love the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels in the Holiday Catalog!

I use a Piercing Tool to transfer the rhinestones from the package to the card.

I added three rhinestones to the card front.

And Viola!, you have a wonderful card to send to someone and let them know how thankful you are for them!
