Although Thanksgiving is still a week away, I know Christmas will be here in the blink of an eye. I thought I better get started on Christmas cards. I need about 40! I am also making some cards to sell at a local church Bazaar in a few weeks.
This adorable deer makes a really cute card to wish someone a Happy Christmas.
I used two Stampin’ Up! stamp sets for this card: Dashing Deer and Birch.
Measurements: Very Vanilla cardstock: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch card base scored at 4 1/4 inches and 3 3/4 x 2 1/4 inches; Crumb Cake cardstock: 5 1/4 x 4 inches; and Cherry Cobbler cardstock 4 x 2 1/2 inches.
You will also need Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler and Crumb Cake ink, the Cherry Cobbler 3/8 inch Diagonal Stripe Ribbon and the Gold Metallic Pearls. For an adhesive I use the Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
The Birch stamp is a large background stamp. It comes in a clear mount and a wood mount. Tip: I find that the wood mount for background stamps is easier to use because it seems more sturdy on the wood. You will need the Crumb Cake ink.
For a large background stamp, I flip it over and lay it on the craft table. Ink the stamp with the Crumb Cake ink.
Carefully lay the 5 1/4 x 4 inch piece of Crumb Cake cardstock on top of the Birch stamp. Place a large clear block over the top and press down evenly.
Carefully lift the cardstock off the Birch stamp. I love the birch image as a background!
I have an old version of the Dashing Deer stamp set. Tip: If you own an old set of the clear mount for the Dashing Deer, you will need something to help it adhere to the clear block. I use a very thin layer of the Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue. When the glue dries, it is sticky enough to hold the stamp on the clear block. The stamp can be taken off when you are finished and stored with the glue on it. The newer version which was available in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog is very sticky so you don’t need to do this step.
Let the glue dry completely before trying to place on a clear block.
Stamp the sentiment “Happiest Christmas Wishes” in Cherry Cobbler ink onto the Birch card piece in the lower right-hand corner.
Stamp the reindeer in Soft Suede ink onto the 3 3/4 x 2 1/4 inch piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. So adorable! I just love the pattern on the body of the reindeer.
Adhere the stamped reindeer card piece to the 4 x 2 1/2 inch piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock.
Fold the 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch card base at the 4 1/4 inch score mark. Use the bone folder to get a crisp fold. Adhere the Crumb Cake Birch piece to the card front.
Apply Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the piece with the stamped deer. I usually cut my Dimensionals in half so they will last longer. However, I use a full Dimensional in the center so that it won’t sink down.
Adhere the reindeer piece to the card front.
How to make a bow
Use a glue dot to adhere the bow to the card front.
Use the Take Your Pick tool to transfer several Gold Metallic Pearls to the antlers of the reindeer.
And Viola! that is all there is to making this wonderful Christmas card!
